La Bocana to San Felipe and Ensenada TALAVERA
We went on a mission to find some new talavera planters since mine are chipping away after 15 years in the desert sun.
Our Punta Abreojos friend, Pablo, had told us that they had seen some beautiful pots north of San Felipe. The assortment is unbelievable but so were
the prices, which were in DOLLARS.
Truly an amazing collection to choose from at this store.
But, like I said, for the big size planters I wanted, the least expensive one was $125. A bit too much.
On our way back to La Bocana 3 days later, the store we bought the original planters in, in Ensenada was open at 8 am! BINGO!
We were in a hurry so i could not get the best shot but this store is huge and has everything from dishes to planter pots to outdoor tiles and more.
This is the front, which is on the street one turns left on to get to highway 1 in Ensenada. In street in front of the military base, so to say.

These 2 bigger pots, shown here on our side porch, were $100 for both. Much better price than SFelipe.
These two smaller planters were two for 200 pesos after Les negotiated.
We will be going by again for more pots when we go for our second vaccine dose up in San Diego.

Nice find!
The place north of San Felipe was originally called the 'San Felipe Zoo' back in the 70s after all the animal figurines there.
The dirt road going west from near there has been called "Zoo Road" by racers and residents ever since.

Yes, as my wife says, "a plethora of useless information" but I hope it is entertaining if not educational for the Baja fanatics!

We've stopped at that shop in Ensenada a couple of times for my wife to get her pot fix taken care of.

in relation to the big mexican flag on the embarcadero in ensenada and diving south to san quintin, where " EXACTLY " is this pottery find ?
sorry about caps but, i am extremely directionally handicapped.
it sounds like you and les bought pottery for about 50 % of the posted price. are their posted reasonable to begin with ? i would guess that they are
more negotiable now with less tourists due to the virus ?

I will try.
As one is driving south in Ensenada, at one point you turn left. Once you turn left, look for the huge pots in a huge lot, also on the left.
Is that clear enough hahahahaha
Let's try that again, shall we?
Drive south on Boulevard Lazaro Card en as. One word.
Turn left onto Gral. Augustin Sangines.
Keep looking for the hundreds of pots and bird baths on the left, do a U=turn and park in front.
This is precisely the normal route one takes to head south to San Quintin.
The seller did not negotiate down much on the big ones but the price is already muy bueno. He did on the smaller ones.
Whomever buys, please post photos!

I would like to source a fountain. Any such sightings?
I've seen a few in CSL, but the selection is limited and the road to the store a rough one.

That place north of San Felipe has fountains, the place in Ensenada also does.
There is a store in Los Barriles called EL TORO Y LA LUNA The owner can special order anything you want. She has an end of summer sale which is
excellent but the heat at that time of the year is brutal.
