COMMUNICATIONS: Repeaters in Central Baja
These photos come from Mando (MOTHERSHIP on Nomad) who has an amigo (Alberto Rodriguez) who installs repeaters so remote parts of Baja can stay in

one of the cool internet links is from Vizcaino to Cerro San Francisco to Rancho Piedra Blanca.
Even places like San Evaristo have internet now.
2 meter is cool - wifi is much better

Our current internet is from a similar system. But we have been approved for Starlink at our place in Bahia Asuncion. This was one of the reasons we
decided to make the move full time. It's going to be a game changer in my opinion.

Starlink is gonna be sooo sweat.
It will be fantastic for Baja. And with remote work here to stay, it will be great for many Americans.

I agree that Starlink will be a game changer, at least for me but I don't see these repeater guys going out of business. A very small percentage of
the population will be able to afford the monthly Starlink rates. Our current providers have a heck of a time keeping everyone current with their
payments at 400 pesos a month. Zero chance that a big number will sign up for 2,000 pesos a month.

Fair point. It will obvious come down over time. Plus usinesses, govt. can afford it and share it with others via Wi-Fi.
And maybe they have the ability to control price per geo?

I was at Coco’s a couple of days ago. It didn’t occur to me there may be internet available. And I saw no indication there was. I asked him about
his radio set to channel 78, and he said he uses it for emergencies and to communicate with people nearby with walkie-talkies.

The Coco area is way beyond the capability of the wireless systems that are so popular in Baja. These companies must have a lot of users to justify
the cost of the service and towers.
Persons living in these communication dead zones all have satellite receivers meaning high cost.
As mentioned nearby communication is good with many radio setups.

Rodriguez has a repeater(s) west of Coco on the top of one the hills if you can see it from Coco’s it’s simple to add him. The hill is probably
south of Catavina. It might require a repeater further east but it would cover the Gonzaga area too so lots of potential new customers because
Rodriguez can do telephone too!
