Acequia Real Del Castillo

found 2 new (to me) things around Real del Castillo (Iwas looking for the old road from Valle de Guadalupe)
the town's cemetery and an Acequia from Agua Caliente
water line almost reaches Real del Castillo
they either never finished it or it was meant for an agriculture project

GregN wrote a nice article about Real de Castillo.
Nomads who are not aware, this is near Ojos Negros (east of Ensenada) and was the capital of Baja California for a short time.

Back in the 90s SCORE ran a Baja 500 race that includd a section from Valle de Guadalupe to Ojos Negros. If you want I can look at my maps to see which one and see if there are course notes. Doubt there is a GPS track, but who knows.

Remarkable find! It is clearly a water conveyance, as the elevation gradually descends at a consistent rate.

The old wagon road from the Guadalupe Valley up to Real del Castillo begins near another "Agua Caliente", east of La Cetto winery.

Is that really "acequina" and not "acequia"? I can't find any meaningful history of the first term. :?:

sorry man - that was before coffee this morning. Acequia!

Cool find, I've stayed in Ojos Negro a few times and like the quirky little town!
