sonoyta shakedown

After a great baja trip we like to cross back into the USA in Sonoyta near Lukeville. It's easy drive on Mex 2 from Mexicali area. It's never a wait or hassle at the border crossing. This time the Federal Police had a shakedown in Sonoyta and seemed to be pulling gringos over. They had us empty our pockets and insisted we had a lot of cash. Not sure what would of happened if they found the cash. We kept telling them, we are going home no cash is left. They were persistent and finally let us go after they insisted we give them a propina. Sonoyta is a weird place but easy crossing. Anybody else have a hassle there?

That area turns into the wild west after dark. I have had some memorable experiences there..on both sides of the border.
