Turn in a TIP at La Paz Ferry (Pichilingue)?

Anyone know if you can turn in a temporary import permit (TIP) at the Pichilingue banjercito that was issued on the mainland? I swear I did it before but I'm getting conflicting information. It seems crazy to have to go to the border to turn it in.

Not sure about now, but many years ago, after returning to BCS from a months long motorbike trip over many states in the republic, my TIP had to be cancelled by leaving the country. (Keep a copy with you to avoid future problems).

Even though the TIP is not required/enforced in BC, any foreign vehicle traveling in the mainland is required to leave the country before the permit expires.

That's the way it works over here in Sonora. You cannot even turn one in at the station below Empalme where many purchase them. They want it turned in at "K21"; basically almost at the border.

That is a slightly different scenario.

Because you need a TIP to bring dirt bikes and other toys into Sonora.

So, they would need to see if the TIP was issued for that, or to drive South of Empalme.

But the more I think about it, it is pretty similar.
