Sentri boarder crossing
I'll be making my first drive into Baja this summer. I have registered my vehicle with Sentri and have a valid GOES card. Anything else I need to
cross with Sentri? Is there a specific Sentri card?

Just have you Global Entry card and passport.
They generally only ask for your card, but I have see at least one person on here say they also asked for their passport.

If your registered vehicle is a pickup, do not add on a cabover camper or camper shell.
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

Make sure you activate the card online in advance. If its not activated when you cross you'll get sent to secondary... ask me how i know

Ahh, the global online enrollment system goes.
And the trusted traveler programs ttp.
With a myriad of overlapping programs, entry, sentri, ready, tsa pre, nexus,
And acronyms.
I revel in its complexity and confusion as it reminds me of why I retired.
You should get a card that will say either
Global entry or sentri at the top. I believe what you are calling your goes card.
You will need that. As it has some sort of radio frequency identification doohickey inside of it.
Your vehicle must also be registered through the trusted traveler website.
And anyone traveling with you must have a card.
You must activate your card. As I recall when you login to your account on the trusted traveler site after you get your card, then you activate it
automatically,
If you go back later, that option is gone, which means it is activated. I love government websites.
Make sure you update your drivers license information should you renew.
Or change vehicles.
Crossing the border you look into a camera, and aim your card at the rfid scanner square antenna.
If you travel by airplane, you don’t use the card for returning, it is done with facial recognition.
On the back of the card is your trusted traveler number which you can use when flying to get tsa pre. You get to keep your shoes on.
Pleas anyone feel free to correct me or add something.

You can have a camper shell, I do and have never had a problem.

My truck has a rack that is nearly as enclosed as having a camper shell on. It hasn't been an issue.

What I meant to say was do not add on AFTER you register your truck. So, a camper shell is OK if it’s on the truck when you register it. A cabover,
not so.

How would they know when a camper shell is put on? They didn't inspect my truck or anything.

I don’t see how CBP would know if I had a shell or not,

They tried to give me an official warning about an ARB fridge and I told the guy it was in there when they did the inspection, he was miffed and
pretty sure I didn't get the warning documented.
He asked if it was from the manufacturer and I said no to which he replied, no modifications allowed. Just for reference, I have been complemented by
some of those guys on multiple occasions on the "modifications" I have done. About the only thing still stock is the motor, transmission and transfer
case... and some of the frame, oh, and the four doors.

I just crossed NB at noon on Tuesday at Mexicali west and drove right up to the booth. The normal lanes were backed way up over
the top.
Last year I crossed at 5:30 PM on Memorial Day and crossed in 17 minutes, while the regular lanes were 4+ hours.

I crossed about 9:30 last Monday Memorial day and I was the second car. When I crossed back south about 1:30 or 2 the Sentri line must have been a
half a mile or so long.
