Nat Talk: Flora of the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir

Tuesday, September 20, 2022 7:00 PM
The Sierra de San Pedro Mártir national park in Baja California is home to bighorn sheep, California condors, cougars, and an incredible diversity of plants, many of which don’t exist anywhere else on Earth.

In their new bilingual book and accompanying Nat Talk, Drs. Alan Harper, Sula Vanderplank, and Jon Rebman introduce us to many of the approximately 500 different plants known from the Sierra San Pedro Mártir, the highest mountain range in Baja California. The book represents a major botanical contribution to Baja California—and its stunning photos make it perfect for the non-botanists, plant enthusiasts, and scientists among us.

This talk takes place in the Maurice and Charmaine Kaplan Theater at The Nat. Museum doors open at 6 PM and the talk begins at 7. It will also be livestreamed via Zoom with Spanish interpretation. A Guide to the Flora of the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir is available in the Museum store, and the authors will sign books after the talk.
