Poorly marked tope in San Ignacio! Watch out!

https://www.bcsnoticias.mx/tope-mal-senalado-provoco-volcadu...

they have been there for ages
well marked
they show on Google Street View
white attention bars on the road start 500 ft before the tope

According to satellite map, Km. 71-72 is in the middle of the San Ignacio suburb of Guamúchil. On Instant Street View, I 'drove' from Km. 71 to 72. Only one tope and it was here, easily seen from regular satellite imagery, too: 27.3010, -112.8777, midway between 71 & 72 in the suburb. Harald that must be a very old photo?

I drove there last year and have images of both

71 +500 is in the middle of Guamuchil
70 +700 is right at the entrance coming from Santa Rosalia

71 +500 can easily be missed from both directions
old paint, small Tope sign

the Google images are old, you are correct

the accident happened at 70 +700
the best marked Tope of the 2
but it is after a long fast downhill
chances are that the guy was a bit fast and tired (it was early morning hours)
the driver complained about the sign to have no reflection indicates that it was still dark when he hit the bump

I hit one way too fast in Loreto a couple months back. It dislodged some plastic piece from the roof of the rental car and the wife yelled at me. Not a pleasant experience.

Most of the topes in Loreto have been recently painted, including the one at the hospital and the one by Oomsapa.

this accident got lots of play and the guilty tope was painted a few days after...pretty neat it happened so fast...and will be much appreciated by travelers unfamiliar with the area and it's dangerous topes.
