Desert Magazine Baja Articles: Another one!

Another Baja article has been found in Desert Magazine which had escaped us, who compiled the big list!
It is a 6 page article with photos and maps about a trip to the tip in a Ford sedan, titled, 'Dirt Road Holiday' in the April 1958 issue.

Modern "Overlanders" would do well to read this article to gain a view of the pleasures of minimalist camping. No 4wd, just a 6 cylinder Ford car.

I really enjoy these old articles when traveling was so much more basic. Brings back fond memories of our summer travel off the beaten path in our
'70's era Scout II.

I'm a bit embarrassed that I feel like I've become one of the new era pampered "adventurers". As I work to complete my new flatbed camper with
dinette, toilet, queen size bed, induction cooking, hot water heater, etc. I find myself muttering "what the hell has happened to me"! The sad part
is that at the young age of 60 I now enjoy a toilet and comfy bed when I'm on a remote Baja beach. It will also hopefully entice my wife to go on
more and longer trips.
First up in the new camper is 3 months in Mexico (Baja peninsula and mainland). Hopefully I don't spend most of the trip fixing all of these
conveniences!
Sorry for the side track, back you your regularly scheduled thread ....

Thanks to the VivaBaja map master, from 1958:
This was a two-page, hand drawn map, so the scale does not exactly match up.
Geoffff worked his magic at blending them... from the Desert Magazine article. This is very close to the Baja road I traveled in 1966, other than
paving north from La Paz went about 100 miles, and again 10 miles south from La Paz.
