features of the project on top of a satellite image from Google maps.
Sorry about the ~~1 minute(dialup) download, but any smaller and you couldn't recognize much.
The red line is the 6000' concrete runway, the green blotches are the golf course, and the blue line appears to be the road to drive in their guests.
I had wondered about that. I was thinking maybe they would put up video
screens with palm trees and bikinis as a distraction if they had to drive them through "downtown."
In the lower left corner you can just make out la bocana. After having a look at where they have put the resort and a little bit of what is involved
with it, I am kind of excited and happy for El Rosario.
I hope they hire locally for all the help, and pay them a fair wage. It would be pretty cool for the town, in my opinion. |
wow Grover you did a nice Job on that it certainly makes it clear. Thanks

Wow, that looks awesome! So El Rosario is more South/East from there, correct? It doesn't look like from the map, that they are even disrupting the
town. If anything, it's going to bring a lot of work and prosperity to that area. I personally think it will be great..

La Bocana
Correct... the town is far and unseen from the golf course sites... The desalinization plant will be above the arroyo valley north and a tad inland of
La Bocana beach (near that pointy hill)...

Good work - and you're quite a artist to paint all that stuff.

La Jolla and Coronado
yes, La Jolla and coronado get lots of fog, like any town near the Pacific at this latitude. the difference is the wind. The wind in that area can
be brutal. The reason there are sand dunes south of SQ is because of one reason wind and lots of it. Wind + Fog = cold (plus an average ocean water
temperature just above freezing). After saying all of that, I love that area myself. It reminds me of the coast in Northern Washington State. The
surf fishing is great and Tuna can be found a short distance away.

Southbound we asked one of the military checkpoint guys if there happened to be a new landing strip in the area.
He pointed back over his shoulder and yep, there it was, gleaming concrete in the usual sea of fog and coastal clouds whipping up the bluff.
Northbound, we got a better look, albeit still cold, cloudy and windy.
In fact, in 34 years of driving across that mesa it has always been the same, cold, cloudy and windy.
Not even a cactus, nor a green piece of brush...
Just gray, and bleak,
As a long-time real estate developer I can admit selling some pretty dismal stuff to folks at times, but this one tops most that I have seen.
Lotsa luck folks. Good thing they are building it for the 'monied gentry' cause you will need to spend money you otherwise don't need.
Appreciation? The only appreciation will be when you head a few miles South and see the sun again.
