A reminder to old (and new) Nomads about some fantastic resources of information and reading entertainment are in these many editions of Desert
Magazine...
Also, if we have missed any Baja articles or news in this list, please let me know and it will be added.
Thank you!

Thanks for making these magazines available to us, David. I used to read Desert Magazine when I was a kid in the '40's and '50's. Now I can go back
and read the Baja ones again.

Baja Nomad 'dezertmag' and rejoined as 'dzeertmag2' did the work, as well as another Desert Fan.
I loved them as well, but more in the '60's and '70's (along with Four Wheeler Magazine)!
It was great to meet the Editor/ publisher/ owner of Desert Magazine of much of the 60's, as well!
I made a website to house many of the photos she took or had from her Baja expeditions: http://vivabaja.com/choralpepper
Here was Choral listening to the great mystery writer and creator of Perry Mason, Erle Stanley Gardner, sitting around a Baja campfire. Baja was a
great escape from the demands of Hollywood for Gardner, and he loved solving mysteries... using all the people, special off road vehicles and
helicopters to accomplish the mission!

FOUND ONE!
February 1949 on page 25:
"We Found a Cave of Lost Art"
Giant cave site found by well-known photographer Ed Davis.
It is a familiar cave site and now we can see how they looked in 1949!

Just an update to this thread.
The archive of Desert Magazines was not showing several issues in full.
I just came across another archive of old Desert Magazines that appears to be good: http://swdeserts.com/archive%20master%2037%2085.htm for 1937-1985 editions. Plus, this person is selling the entire collection on CD for just ten
bucks.
Here is the homepage: http://swdeserts.com/
Another source to read Desert Magazines: https://archive.org/details/desertmagazine

It's a two CD set and it's great. I even made chicken and dumplings from a recipe in one magazine.

Here is a new link to see all the Desert Magazines: https://archive.org/details/desertmagazine
Also, for Harald: the San Baltazar cave is San Borjitas. I recognized the figures since I was just there last month. I then found them in Harry
Crosby's book listed as "in a cattle-raising area known as San Baltazar" and goes into much detail.

The link given to the last magazines printed, under the name American Desert Magazine, is no longer online. Does anyone have a link to the 1991-1993
issues? There are some Baja articles in them.

Thank you so much, geoffff!
It is this one: http://octopup.org/img/media/desert-magazine/19930200--Deser...
that has several Baja articles and the photos from our own Pappy Jon here on Nomad, including the cover photo!
I have edited the list with the link inserted.

Vaya Con Dios John Grasson of Dezert Magazine & Lost Ship of the Desert fame.
Sad to learn that John was killed in an auto accident. John looked me up many years ago when he wanted to renew Desert Magazine. He saw my Choral
Pepper (Desert Magazine editor of the 1960s) web photos and I connected him with Choral's kids. Unsure of any ownership issues with the name Desert
Magazine, he altered one letter and published Dezert Magazine for a few issues. John joined Baja Nomad as 'dezertmag' and later rejoined as
'dzeertmag2' when he couldn't get back on using the original password.
John was fascinated with the Lost Shop of the Desert legends and made it a main focus of his Internet activity. John was the first guest guide on the
Vikings in the Desert episode of America Unearthed, with Scott Walter, that I was on for the Baja segment at the end.
John lived in Banning and was a salesman in Riverside County.

"John was one of the most interesting people I've ever met. He was part of a team called the Legend Detectives that was formed two years ago to
unravels some of the great mysteries of the Old West. As such he was a great researcher who uncovered aspects of stories such as the Lost Ship of the
Desert and Peg Leg Smith, that no one else uncovered. As a member of the Legend Detective team, I always enjoyed his company and had a blast working
closely with him to solve a mystery. Rest In Peace my dear friend."
