Favorite Winter Kayak Fishing Spots and Tips!
This section of the website seems to have gone a bit stale.
Any chance we can get a real kayak fishing conversation going?
I myself will be heading down at the end of the year and will start fishing in Gonzaga and work my down fishing and camping at all the usual spots.
Would love to hear about lures and gear you guys have had good luck with.

I kayak fish in Punta Chivato. There are a few reefs in the bay.
A couple of weeks ago, I paddled from Punta Chivato to Mulege. I dragged a Krocodile part of the way but had no luck. It took 6.5 hours...

You are a better man than I ! Six hours is about 3 hours too long for me.
I never have much luck trolling. I usually try to fish structure. What is available in Punta Chivato in February?

I thought it was only 4 hours, and that's what I told my sister. I offered her a guidebook that detailed the trip. We didn't read it before going,
but when we got back was saw it was described as an all-day trip. Think it said 8 hours. We stopped for lunch along the way for 30-45 mins. My
sister was a little slow, so I think the trip could be made in 4 hours if you paddle fast and don't stop.
I have caught Roosters, Pompano, and lots of trigger fish and Liza. There are a few good reefs close to shore that I like to try. I'm only a
part-timer, and I believe others have done better than I.

what kayaks are you guys using. I am planning on setting myself up for Kayak fishing down there, but do i go with sit on? or sit in?
foot pedal system?" deluxe with a trolling motor and an outrigger?
can i start out with a basic model that I can retrofit a pedal drive and or motor too if i end up being a fishYak Nerd?
thanks

I don't really know anything about this. But, I have a Malibu Kayaks X13, an old kevlar Seda Viking, and an old kevlar eddyline. The Malibu is a
sit-on-top and the easiest to paddle and control, but the slowest and heaviest. The eddyline is the fastest, and more stable than the Viking.
The Malibu is made for fishing and scuba, and has some interesting accessories like rodholders, transducer mount, space for a live well, and something
called the X-wing for keeping stuff handy.

Most of my experience is in sit in kayaks on calm water. This year I am going to try the pacific side so I am looking for a sit on top which seems
much safer in the surf.
Hoping to find one on craigslist this weekend.
Next year I will get a mirage drive hobie.

Anyone know where the fish go in March?
I have been surf casting down here in Todos Santos for a while and I am ready to find a new camp where I can launch my kayak.
Any suggestions ?

I recommend kayak fishing just about any of the mangroves. Great fun paddling the mangrove channels, and great fishing/bird watching, often not the
biggest fish, but great places for fly fishing.
Woke!

Thanks, I think I will make my way to magdalena bay finally and see about those mangroves.
Love small fish on light tackle, did not bring any fly gear but a buddy of mine did. We will see what we can do.
Any fish that are too big to eat in a day or so get tossed back anyway.

File down the barbs on hooks for less traumatic release and watch the tides, especially if around the bocas, could be left high and dry, or swept out
to sea.
Que le divierta!
