The complete film online: The Devil's Road, a Baja Adventure
Having won several awards at film festivals the past 2 years and was shown at San Diego's Natural History Museum theater on March 10, 2020 (three days
before Covid changed everything) where many of us Nomads saw the film for the first time... We are now treated to view the full fiilm, for free.
If you can watch on a full size screen/ TV, I recommend it. At least two Nomads I know (Graham Mackintosh and I) have small parts in the film... The
late Pancho of BahÃa San Rafael has an important message in the film, too. Many other Baja people are interviewed in the film, as well.
The film compares Baja California as studied in 1905 by the Nelson-Goldman Expedition to today.

Enjoyable
Well-spent hour and a half.
Nelson's "Lower California and its Natural Resources" is readily available on the used book market. There are both, the original U.S. Government
Printing Office and the Hugh Manessier reprint editions available. We have the reprint and it has a wonderful, and large, fold-out map tipped in at
the back of the book. Don't know if the original has a map but I'd suspect it does.
There are a good number of copies of both available on the search I did for less than $30.00

Watched it last night, cool project and very informative.
The one thing they got wrong in their tribute to Pancho was the year of his death, it was '18 not '19.

I missed that... but did catch the goof on the number of missions (27 not 28). I was the one who first informed Todd of Pancho's death... as I knew he
was a very special person in the film. The made tribute posts to Pancho following the news.

Thanks a bunch David for sharing this film. Very enjoyable for all of us that love this beautiful peninsula. Love the old landscape pictures of what
is now large major cities. And those cities just keep on growing with no end in site. When will it stop...
Route question: Do you know what road the film makers were told 'not' to take out of Mike's with their loaded KLR's? The bikers on the 400/450's had
little confidence in these KLR guys. But, of course, always better to play it safe when in Baja.

I can rewatch to confirm, but the road from Mike's south to El Coyote is pretty bad or was in 2017.

We rode it two years ago on 990's, lots of big ditches and wash outs but not a problem on a moto. They could have gone back to valley T and across
that way too.

OK, that part is at about Minute 17:40... and for sure, the old guys scared them for taking the road up the hill from the ranch... which Todd and JT
walked a bit of to confirm. Now, why the film says they had to get around to the observatory road by going all the way to Ensenada instead of using
the easy Valle de Trinidad to San Vicente road, I don't know?

I didn't see the actors use a drone to scout the area before proceeding. Of course the film crew appears to have used one in other parts of the
filming.

It begins and ends in English, with Spanish in the middle. However, it is mostly a visual film, so not understanding Spanish won't be an issue too
much. It was our Baja Amigos cult film back in the early 2000's. Sundance Channel even had a version with English subtitles during the brief Spanish
parts. We shared a VHS recording of it, provided by elgatoloco and Barb.
