Some type of croaker or "blanquillo".

Resembles what we caught off piers in So Cal. They were known as tomcod or queenfish. The best use for them on the pier was halibut bait. On sport
boats they were called brown bait, and passengers and huge fish fought over them.

With all due respect to the venerable Skipjack Joe, this cannot be a Barbu, because that is an Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico fish. It is also not
yellow.
More likely, this is a Yellow Bobo (Polydactylus opercularis)
