Mike's Sky Rancho
Looking to head up to Mike's for memorial day weekend for some riding with my brother and son. Any routes you guys can recommend? We'll be planning
to come back to Mike's each night. I'd like to make it out to the observatory too.

As long as you stay south of Hwy. 3 and the dirt road from Valle de la Trinidad to near San Vicente, you shouldn't be in harms way from the Baja 500
prerunners.
Motorcycles have never been allowed into the San Pedro Mártir National Park (Observatory road), so don't be disappointed. You can ride up to where
you can't and maybe see condors circling and beautiful pine trees.
Here is the region as shown on the 2015 Baja Almanac (note that the park entrance office was moved further into the forest to Km. 83, by where the map
shows camping):

Thanks for the reply David! Now that you mention it I do remember bikes not being allowed in there. We'll probably just ride up to the park office
and back. We'll do a ride to Valley T for some Tacos one day and avoid the 500 race course on the southwest side of town. Might take a long day and
head to the pacific and back too.

The world is your oyster!
Say, if you have not done so, maybe ask your question on the Ride Baja Facebook group? I also would like to see your trip photos and report here
and/or on Facebook.

Is the trail/road from Mike's Sky Rancho to Dark Skys, La Concepcion closed. I remember Mike and Pam had a locked gate at the jct coming from Mike's
Sky Rancho. I haven't heard much since they sold the place.

On a sort of related subject, on the map there is a road that goes west from El Coyote. Anyone know if that is open, starting from El Coyote?

It was in October 2017. Larry ('bajatrailrider') goes that way. It meets Hwy. 1, at Km. 118.5, north of Colonet (if you take certain forks in the
road).
Michael Diogo, at El Coyote may also be able to answer, if you can reach him by email.
It is even included on my map:
Here you can see it on my inReach tracks map:

I can see what tracks I have if you have a GPS set up. Lots of good stuff leaving Mike over to the Pacific. Even the dirt Highway from Valley T over
to Highway 1 is fun.
Send me a message with a cell # and I can send some stuff your way.

The dirt highway west from V. Trinidad, is the Baja 500 course. With pre-running, that road may be best to avoid until after the race.
