https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCVM2DLV6_Y Herbst stream, which is easily the best in truck footage you are going to get. Herbst had some great
battles after Laguna del Diablo.

What does VCP stand for?
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Penalties do make a difference
Off course (shortcut?) and speeding on the controlled section.
Score dose not tell how many deviations.
Cannot be a winner with poor driving or cheating.

VCP is a virtual check point.
It is a place with coordinates on the digital track the is monitored and recorded by the tracker device used by each race truck. They usually have a
sign along the track.
Purpose to prevent racers from taking shortcuts.
The VCPs are reviewed by computer after the race and deviations are flagged for penalties.

Virtual Checkpoint. SCORE's General Regulations say in part:
"Every vehicle at all SCORE events must pass through all Physical Checkpoints and Virtual Checkpoints (VCPs) in the correct ascending numerical order.
A full and complete stop must be made at all Physical Checkpoints, while vehicles will race through all Virtual Checkpoints (VCPs). ... The failure
of any vehicle to pass through one or more Virtual Checkpoints (VCPs), will result in a penalty as outlined in the supplementary rules published for
each specific race."
Usually SCORE requires racers to pass within 150' of a VCP or risk penalties. If it's a critical area, the distance can be reduced to fit the
situation.
The yellow dots are examples of VCPs:
