Buy a Guitar in Los Cabos?
Anyone have an idea as to where I could purchase an "affordable" ( under $200usd ) aqoustic guitar in the Los Cabos area? Thanks in advance...

Why not buy from the source and take a vacation at the same time? There is a town on in mainland Mexico called Paracho, Michoacan that is dedicated to
the building of guitars.
Haven't been there myself (yet) but I hear it is worth the trip!

And if you need a new car for the trip, make a vacation out of it and fly to Detroit, Haven't been the myself, but I hear its worth the trip.

We just bought a great guitar at Costco for $70!! Nice sound but needs better strings.
Happiness is just a Baja memory away...

Come on! At least my suggestion (although a little far out) has some merit 
Although I have to admit that the area around Detriot (the rest of Michigan and Ontario) has possibilities.

I have been to Paracho and yes, it is worth the trip. No, it would not be cost effective to go there just for a cheap "beginner" guitar. But that
part of Michoacan is beautiful in a different way than most of Baja. It's all forrested mountains. Paracho is near Lake Patzcuaro where the
fishermen use those "butterfly" nets and the most well-known Day of the Dead celebration occurs on Janitzio island. Morelia and Uruapan are pretty
towns worth seeing as well. In Paracho, EVERYONE either makes or sells guitars. You will see guitars for sale at bakeries, the Pemex station,
restaurants- everywhere. Everything from a $2 POS just to hang on the wall to a "Stradivarius" quality concert instrument worthy of Andres Segovia.
In my days as a "stoont", I once bought a good quality guitar there for about $40 and hitch-hiked back to Chapel Hill, NC with it, where I traded it
for a Ford Station Wagon which I then drove back to Mexico City.

Is there somewhere in Tijuana - or elsewhere in the northern part of the peninsula - anyone would suggest for the same thing... an acoustic guitar for
a beginner?

bad strings!

That's always a plus if it sounds good! I certainly don't need anything "concert ready". Just enough to keep my chops up while in Baja. I'll bring my
own from home when I drive down in a couple months.
Did it come with Nylon strings? I'm wondering what kind of strings to bring.

I would buy either an Ibanez or a Yamaha from Guitar Center in SD County. Should find something plenty nice for a beginner for $200. Don't make the
mistake of buying something too cheap. A poor instrument can be the worst enemy of a beginner.

Bought one for $25 here in Loreto in a restaurant. Don't know the first thing about guitars , but the wife insisted that it would look nice on the
wall. First time I tried to tune it, one of the strings broke and it's been under the bed ever since. So much for my musical career.
