WIND - WIND - WIND + COLD-COLD-COLD
That's right, it's been blowing really HARD for 3 days now.
For fishermen and beach campers, this is getting a little old.
Conception Bay is a mite choppy.
Break out your windsurfers!
Weather related true story:
The Ole Torgerson family owned a small farm in Canada, just yards away from the North Dakota border. Their land had been the subject of a minor
dispute between the United States and Canada for generations. Mrs. Torgerson, who had just celebrated her ninetieth birthday, lived on the farm with
her son and three grandchildren.
One day, her son came into her room holding a letter. "I just got some news, Mom," he said. "The government has come to an agreement with the people
in Washington. They've decided that our land is really part of the United States. We have the right to approve or disapprove of the agreement. What do
you think?"
"What do I think?" his mother said. "Jump at it! Call them right now and tell them we accept! I don't think I could stand another one of those
Canadian winters!"

yep...blew like Hades yesterday here too from the NE with a very large swell too...around 10' but was a passable day in protected San Roque. Nadine
and her esposo...remember the suicidal bikers from Holland??? well they had a tail wind all the way from Vizcaino and pulled in at happy hour last
night. After only 10 km of the dirt road, I believe they have altered their plans of cycling the backroads of baja...hated the washboard.
Today the wind has calmed and seas are also flattening out so looks like a fishing day tomorrow.

shari...you are lucky folks over on that side of Baja. Even if the wind stops right now, it will be at least another day of large rollers here before
we can venture out. ...grrrrr
Maybe I should move to Asuncion. They do have Pacifico, no?

Yes Pomp...we do have pacifico for all the gringos...jejejej...they built one of those flashy Modelorama's right across from the cop shop so they can
keep an eye on all of you.
By the way...you were the topic of our c-cktail conversation last night at Timo's RV...you really need to put in a personal appearance here..we're
waiting for ya amigo....he missed you when he was over there.

Too bad....Que lastima.
shari..Sorry I missed the chance to meet Timo....but there's always a next time. That's one of the things I've always liked about Baja..it's a place
where there are no such people as strangers, just friends you haven't met yet.
I'm committed to bringing a motorhome and boat over there sometime this winter/spring. Got some other amigos who live there now. We used to fly
those Pacific beaches a lot back in the day. The last time for Asuncion area was right after Haley's comet, 1986...Dusty and our gals landed his
taildragger with tundra tires on the beach, where we wing-camped for a week of fishing and fun.
On the Pacifico side of things, as a gringo-mulegino, I've been enjoying it for about 40 years now..
...with a brief sidetrip to Corona in a 'clear' bottle.
(short story)...
When the old Hotel Mulege (Club Aero) was still open many moons ago, I was about to suck down a cool Pacifico when I noticed it had a cloudy
appearance...yee-etch!...there was a decomposing mouse in it. Most the beer was spit out on the bartender, Luis, as I sputtered..'Damn,Luis..there's
a mouse in my beer!' He holds my bottle up the light and hands it back, saying, 'No charge for the soup, Rogelio.'
...I can't drink any more Tecate since I got rusted-can poisoning the the 60's.
Hasta pronto!

No comments regarding beer poisoning, but it's been windier here than a son of a gun. Everything is either chained down or put away. We haven't
found ourselves paddling the trailer into town yet. You never know, if this wind keeps up and kicks up, we might be needing that foul weather gear.
Crossing our fingers for a bit of relief for New Year's eve.

Speaking of beer, I'm saving your and Derns Christmas present for when you guys get back up here...same as last year.
Tie yourselves down and pray. Or, go to town and drink mass quantities of your personal selection.
Happy New Year.

...Weather update in Coyote Bay..........b-b-brrrrrrrrr! Winds have slowed, but now it is c-c-c-COLD! 47 degrees at 7 a.m. I am
packing now to warm up in North Dakota.
p.s. I have decided to stick it out here in Baja. Does anyone have something like this for s-s-s-s sale? I'll pay just about anything.

Russ...
I am kicking myself for not buying at least 2 more of those Mr. Heaters when I had the chance in back in November. I briefly noticed that Grangers
and San Diego Welding Supply had them on sale. Of course, it was warm then and I wasn't too interested...today is a different story.
(Future guests should be advised that Mr. Heaters are available in Ca-Ariz-Ore-Wa.)
I did install one of these nice wall-vented heaters, though. Heats MY bedroom nicely.
