Mulege Vet Fundraiser
SUPPORT THE REOPENING OF P.A.W. VETERINARY CLINIC IN MUELGE. Come eat and drink February 27, 2010 at Scott’s El Candil Restaurant in downtown Mulege,
11:30 a.m. to closing. All profits from the restaurant on the 27th will go to support the clinic.
While you are at the restaurant there will be silent auction items to bid on, amazing raffle items to view and purchase tickets for a chance to win,
and a live auction will take place after the dinner hour.
P.A.W. (Patrons of Animal Welfare) Veterinary Clinic has served the community of Mulege for 12 years. Unfortunately September 2009, Hurricane Jimena
took a toll on the clinic and its ability to offer services to the community. The clinic has had a major impact on the quality of life for both
animals and humans in Mulege. The animal populations were being controlled with spaying and neutering and disease rates were declining.
Your help will allow the clinic to relocate, replace essential equipment and supplies lost in the hurricane. COME JOIN THE FUN AT SCOTT’S AND
SUPPORT THE VETERINARY CLINIC.

Regretfully Lorraine will not be involved. She lost everything again to Hurricane Jimena. The Clinic is being organized by the 20+volunteers that were
very dedicated ,and worked with Lorraine over the years..Will be a fun event, so if any Nomads are in the Mulege area next weekend, the 27th stop by
Scotty's...

Scotty is a fantastic guy to do this fundraiser for a VERY worthy cause. His food is consistantly fabulous, too. That being said, one
fundraiser...oh, also today 11-3 is an art sale at Ana's down at Santispac with 10% of sales going to PAWS...it would be great to have a Paypal
account set up for ongoing donations to PAWS. A location for the new clinic is in the process of being built, but with no equipment the expenses are
going to be huge, at least initially. Anyone out there who can set up and manage a Paypal account? Surely many gringos in the States would be
willing to make donations throughout the years to make this worthy cause happen...and stay open.

Setting up a paypal acct is easy. You will need an e mail address and a bank account and it takes about 7 days for paypal to verify the bank account.
You deposit 10 cents and Paypal collects it as a trial. u2u if you have any questions.

Yep, I know it is easy. We are thinking a full timer should handle it. Someone who is involved with the clinic, and is DOWN here with a Mex bank
account, which we don't have.

How you can !!!HELP!!!
The Patrons of Animal Welfare (P.A.W.) Veterinary Clinic has served the community of Mulegé, BCS for over 12 years. We have an excellent reputation in
the community and our accomplishments speak to the dedication of all those involved who have made the clinic possible.
In just the last two years of operation, we treated over 1700 animals (mostly dogs and cats). Of those, 256 dogs and 108 cats were spayed and 129 dogs
and 59 cats were neutered. We administered over 1800 total doses of rabies and/or distemper vaccine and at least 600 doses of antiparasite medications
to both cats and dogs. And we did it all on a shoestring budget with a lot of help from donations of all kinds.
Unfortunately last September, Hurricane Jimena finally took a toll on our ability to offer low-cost or no cost services to the community (about 70% of
the animals belong to Mexican nationals. Our greatest concern for Mulegé is that without the ongoing sterilization and vaccination of dogs and cats,
the animal population will begin to spiral out of control again and disease rates will rise. Just in the last few months since the hurricane, some
diseases (most noticeably parvovirus) already seem to be on the rise. The permanent loss of the clinic would have a major impact on the quality of
life for both animals and humans alike.
Our goal is to open in December 2010 more specifically as a spay/neuter clinic (and offering vaccinations, of course). We have the staff, we have the
will and now all we need is you! We need as much help as we can get to relocate the clinic and to raise funds to replace essential equipment and
supplies lost in the hurricane.
All donations, however small or large, are much appreciated and can be made to any clinic volunteer, or via Paypal (donate money to PAW as a “gift” to
account = ecomujeres@aol.com).
Contact us at this email if you need a tax deduction.
Thank you from all of us,
The volunteer staff of the Mulegé P.A.W. Clinic!
See you this Sat.Feb.27th at Scott's El Candil in Mulege 11:30am until close for the Fundraising Event!!

Scotty's was a beehive of activity yesterday. Wonderful how many showed up, bought raffle tickets, made donations and participated. Hot bidding on
some of the live auction items. Mulegemichael and I scored a couple of great items. Can't wait to hear the final numbers. What a great event. Thanks
to all the dedicated volunteers, and, of course, all the great folks to contributed to the new clinic. Great community spirit.

We would like to thank everyone in the Mulegé community for the incredible support we received during the past few months of fundraising activities.
We are very excited to say that we’ve met our goal and will be re-opening in December 2010.
Because of your overwhelming response, we are all feeling extremely positive about our decision to continue the clinic’s mission that was begun 12
years ago.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us to get up and running at a new site, and lots of equipment and supplies to secure, but we are all ready for
the challenge.
Again, we thank each and every one of you who participated, contributing with your time, goods, services and/or cash.
On behalf of the PAW (Patrons of Animal Welfare) Clinic,
Debra
