Camping at Bahia de los Muertos (bay of dreams)

Has anyone been camping around Bahia de los Muertos lately? Looking for a place to park the truck and camper close enough to the water to launch kayaks.

My neighbor goes camping over there all the time, just drives south on the beach and camps in an arroyo.

They changed the name once it started being "developed".

I camped there in 1989 on my first Baja adventure....was hitchhiking and camping....and poorly prepared (no food or water....just three cans of pear juice from Los Planes :O )...just about died from that poor planning....

David, I trust you guys will find a spot and be better prepared.

Does Cacahuete have a sun parasol ?

There are plenty of places to camp near the boat ramp. There is a killer one to the west of the ramp between the parking area and the small arroyo. You can also drive (4wd) down the arroyo and park on the beach. Other spots near the resort. Bring your own toilet and load up on supplies. Not much in Agua Amarga, little better at Los Planes. Don't know if the restaurant is still open, considering their prices probably not.

Another place that's not too bad for camping is just south of Punta Arena. Nice sandy beach, easy launch, and closer to the island. Not great if it's windy.

My Spanish could use improvement too but your interpretation is correct. It has and probably always will be "Bahia de los Muertos" to the local population but as ged commented the name was changed to Bahia de los Suenos by the developer. Time will tell if the new name will stick, it's still Muertos to me...

Yeah... Muertos probably don't see any dreams :). Nor would it be my dream to become one of them any time soon.

Been a while since we were there. Nice place. Good food at the restaurant.

From the almanac:
I guess all the same place

bahia de las suenos Bay of dreams
bahia de las muertos Bay of the Dead
ensenada de las muertos Cove of the Dead
casa de los suenos house of dreams

Only if you pronounce Isla Cerralvo as Isla Jaques Cousteau.

Since we are being historically accurate , there was a metal
sign, back in the day, '87, just before the pebbled ramp, near
a concrete foundation palapa that read,
Ens. de Los Muertos, as in Ensenada, those were the days

The highway signs along the road from La Paz have been changed back to "Bahia de Los Muertos".

Some of the "Suenos" signs put by the developer are still intact.
