Seeking an independent Republic of Baja California is one... There is more than one Facebook group in Mexico seeking it, maybe in jest, but still:
https://www.facebook.com/nuevarepublicadebajacalifornia/
https://www.facebook.com/bajaindependiente/
https://www.facebook.com/SeparatismoBajacaliforniano/
My other source is a lifetime of reading history of and my travels in Baja California. Can you tell me that the federal highways in Baja are treated
the same as those on the mainland? Baja is so different from the mainland and it receives so little attention from D.F. that if not for the prosperity
it gets from its neighbor, it would be in pretty sad shape. Maybe that has changed a lot in the last dozen years?
Oh, back to the original subject of the addition to the name of Mulegé...
I looked at a video made by my passenger in 2016, and sure enough...

In talking with friends in Mulege the town is pretty much shut down, they are not anxious for visitors at this time trying to keep the Covid away...
No beer in stores as of today, mini brewery has his.... food is mostly take out.
We have a home there that we were going to head for in late April an pretty much asked to not do so....
Also there is a facebook group "mulegenews" that is pretty active with the folks that are there.
They are also saying beaches are still closed not supposed to be anyone renting to travelers...
although I would guess it is happening anyway..
Just what I am being told earlier today from neighbors...
Just what I am being told from neighbors...
Common sense is a flower that doesn\'t grow in everyone\'s garden.....
A wise man once spoke nothing.....
Never kick a cow chip on a hot day!!

mtnpop - That sounds accurate. When it's back open and safe to travel I hope everyone will consider a visit to this special place.

If my old memory serves me correctly (not often) I believe Nomad "Howard" wrote about the battle of Mulege many years ago on this forum and Pompano
wrote about a painting in Ruebens Farmacia that illustrates the battle.
Man I could use a good Pompano story right now, along with a few drinks. The drinks are easier to get.
take care all.
