An interesting variety here, lots of stuff I love hearing in people's lists!
Consensus seems to be that nobody likes rap. Me either, but along with Packoderm I do like punk. But only live-- got hooked a few years back when
our son's band practiced in the basement three times a week
Any Be Good Tanyas fans out there? Nice bluegrassy stuff. http://www.begoodtanyas.com/

Hmmmm..... well, there's http://www.gregbrown.org/ Two of my favorite of his gazillion CD's are In the Dark with you and The Poet Game.
And there is his wife, http://www.irisdement.com/biography.html
Who was it who first said like butta? Sounds like Ertha Kitt, but I don't know...

like Butta
I only know it from the Saturday Night Live , Mike Myers "Coffee Talk" lady. The character based on his Barbara Streisand-loving Jewish mother-in-law
who between yiddish expressions, said stuff like "that Babs, she sings like butta".
Now I'm feeling verklempt, so talk amongst yourselves...

I was just wondering if anybody has heard of this artist. I was wondering what her music sounds like and if it is any good.

She looks like that secretary on the Bob Newhart show. I don't remember her name.

I found it! Joyce Drake singing "I Get All Excited" from her self titled album "Joyce" recorded in 1983. Here is a sample: http://bizarrerecords.com/galleries/nice/joyce.mp3
I've found more:

re Joyce . . hilarious!
Larry (who said "As an American, I am happy to point out that Seasons in the Sun is actually of Canadian origin.") - I must respond that I am equally
happy to point out that "Tallahassee Lassie" is NOT Canadian . .
(Sorry, don't know how to do those enclosed quotes).
A friend has given me a Christmas gift of a Costco 500GB external USB disk with 227GB of music on it (about 40,000 songs I believe). When I asked how
I would ever get even a part of that onto CDs, he made some remark about that being "so 20th century".
The new mode is apparently to dump a couple of weeks worth of your favorite playlists to an .mp3 player . . . with me so far Judy? Me too . . . oh
well.

This last trip, I failed to get a CD player and a car kit, and I only had one cassette of Jr. Brown. So, I ended up listening pretty much only to
Mexican music on the A.M. radio. At night I listened to KTNN - The Voice of the Navajo Nation. I like that station.

A few year ago a small group of us walked into a tiny restaurant just north of GN. We were the only gringos in the place. There was a boombox playing
Ranchero music. After we sat down and were given menus, they took out their music and the next thing we heard was...
We had JOY, we had FUN, we had SEASONS IN THE SUN...
We all busted up.

For those who love exploring music you may have missed . . .
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml;jsessionid=NFIHVT...
Also, for downloading .mp3s, try alltunes.com - been using them for 3 years at 10-15c per song instead of 99c.
