Small world indeed....My grandma bought property in Winchester way back and me and my bros still have it...She had property in Murieta Hot Springs before all the developments were in....when Lake Elsinore was the hotspot to go and party!
Way too many motorcycle and car fatalities on Ortega...

Just looked it up and it's Jamul....far from a "Q". Mostly retail nursery, very big stock but the owners were kinda wierd. NO DISCOUNT no matter how much you spent. I ended up getting over a $1000 in Blue palms but they were great size for 20 inch boxes. Awesome color.

A sixty foot tree cut for market takes 60 years to replace. A sixty foot bamboo cut for market takes 59 days to replace.

Jr. how do you grow a 60 foot bamboo in 59 days? this dose not seem possible from what I have read. can you tell me what kind of bamboo this is? I want some of this kind.

They sure look like they grow some awesome goods...Their property is worth a fortune! Great site...Thanks!
The soil out there is like gold as was the land out in Fountain Valley years ago...all I saw were strawberry farms. Just like the strawberry stand at the entrance to Laguna Canyon Road back in the 80's! Now it's all Corporate Headquarter buildings!

Bruce I believe it's the giant timber bamboo...fastest growing thing on earth and the bamboos are in the grass family. JR, correct me if I'm wrong..

Bad Bamboo?

There was (is) some kind of bamboo in the Monterey Calif area that is very destructive. It's been known to break up concrete walkways, swimming pools, and totally take over flower beds and lawns.

It was also almost impossible to get rid of. The Fairgrounds Travelodge was constructed (in part) on a piece of property that was a chinese restaurant previously. Travelodge tried every thing they could think of to get rid of the stuff to no avail.

I've personally seen some of this damage but don't know what the name of the stuff was.

If you know what the stuff is, you might want to warn people about it before they run out a buy some "bamboo" without checking its growth habits.

De Nada Cinco

Jorge is a great guy.
Bruce, unfortunately, I personally haven't, yet. We are still experimenting with conditions and such.

But, with our Oldhamii, I had one plant grow 3 feet in 1 1/2 weeks. But now it has slowed down. Thus, the experimentation.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant, even faster than kelp from what I have read.

Probably the most replenishable material on earth as well as all of the beneficial effects like cleaner air, soil protection and erosion control to say nothing of the fact that it's majestic, beautiful and the sound of bamboo in the wind is like nothing else.

Even has a very distinct and pleasant smell when working with it.

Turtle...
You have to be talking about Golden Bamboo....I wouldn't even grow that in a pot let alone the ground....There are products called bamboo barrier where the rhizomes can't travel thru. I've seen golden bamboo grow thru asphalt. I believe the botanical name is Phyllostachys aureum.
