Baja Rosario Festival 2005 (7/22-7/24) news and Logo!

There is no 'browse' button on the Baja Events forum (on Nomad) for me to show the logo there, so I am posting here for all interested Nomads...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Here is the email from Antonio tonight that says it better than me retyping the details...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bro...

I have been very, very busy organizing a ton of stuff...so, again, I need your help, if you have the time, to distribute the festival image (which I am attaching now) to any and all web sites you consider appropiate. Any place you think it may help to promote the Festival.

The reason for me to ask this is that I am seeing coming a lot a time for me to be spent in El Rosario in the next weeks...and as you know, I do not have Internet there.

The name of the festival is "Baja Rosario Festival 2005"... the activities we are organizing you already know.

Anyone who wish to attend and reserve a room in El Rosario, may contact me directly at festival@bajacactus.com... I have made arrangements with the local motels for me to control all the reservations for those days (it is easier).

We have the BajaCactus Motel with 24 rooms (18 already reserved), Las Caba?as motel with 17 rooms (4 already reserved) and Motel Sinahi with 16 rooms.

Motel Sinahi also has RV's park with capacity for 24 motorhomes.

If someone would like a camping site at La Bocana, they can also contact me at festival@bajacactus.com (I do not have the rates for there yet... but it will be something like $5-$10 us dlls a night... not sure yet)

Rates on this three motel are between $ 25 dlls - $ 35 dlls a night.

I also have arrange for motel rooms in San Quint?n, so if anyone wishes to stay there instead they can do it at festival@bajacactus.com ... GOT IT?... festival@bajacactus.com... jejejeje

Time to be a BajaCactus ambassador again Bro...if you do not have the time just let me know and I will ask my wife or someone elso to assist me... NO PROBLEM...!!!

If you need any other info.. just let me know...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks mucho Antonio!!!

OK Nomads:

There is going to be quite a lot of events at this first ever fiesta celebrtating the founding of the town (mission) of Rosario (EL ROSARIO) on July 20, 1774.

To name a few:

Food, music, area tours, story-telling, local industry expo, beauty pageant, dancing... did I say food?

Be there or be square!

Continue on with us to Mision Santa Maria after the event if you have a sturdy vehicle! See my Baja Notebook for details.

Yes.. good point Wilderone!

Books about Baja, Deserts, Oceans, etc. for the Baja Cactus Library... A list of books already donated is in a seperate thread.

I just got an email from Antonio that the event email address works fine festival@bajacactus.com

Also, to help with the planned desert/area tours, we are going to El Rosario instead of Shell Island, this weekend... Antonio will be there as well. Come on down and check out the sites! See http://vivabaja.com/1104 for some of them!

Poor Red & Rich Opel's in El Dorado, CA

Santiago: My (bio.) father lives in Diamond Springs and his wife is Opel's daughter... Opel passed away. I have not been to their saloon in several years, but it was a blast when I was their... with those double glass served ice cream drinks (incl. Galliano & Creme de Cocoa).

Further south on Hwy. 49, my mom owned a business in Coulterville (between Sonora and Mariposa) back in the late 70's/early 80's... the Chinese General Store form the gold mining years, turned into an antique store.

So, I have a small connection with the Sierra Nevada foothills!

Hi everyone... I have missed reading and writing on the forum... but I REALLY have been quite busy organizing this festival....

All what we are planning is going perfect... no problems to this point yet....just a bunch of activities to coordinate.

Yankeeirishman, BajaAndy and everyone else who sent me an e-mail about roomsand RV park.... DO NOT WORRY... I have rooms and spaces reserved for ALL of YOU... I will contact you by e-mail in the next week to confirm the details of the reservations (room number, number of beds) as well as the nights you are staying with us.

Any questions of other info you need do not hesitate to contact me... as DK said... I read all my e-mail....at this point it just may take me a little while to answer.

See you all soon... hugs.

I think Debra (travelpearl) is going to be there with her son Brendan... who is about 11 years old now.

Bedman took this photo of Brendan at Cielito Lindo during BBBB-4 in 2002...

We are planning to make it (barring some mishap) if at all possible.

Brendan is almost 12 now (Aug.) but, ask all that know him, he plays with infants, to really REALLY OLD people like Mike H. Great to hear that other kids will be there! Looking forward to it.

(Sheesh! who dressed that kid? green with blue?)
