scallop crabs and shrimp

While cleaning baja scallops last week in Las Animas ( the ones with a flat side) every one had a wierd looking dumpy crab (about an inch across) inside or a small shrimp that looked like a cray fish - no pictures at the moment - anyone encounter them before? A few fear factor students tried them with lemon juice...
