EL ROSARIO WEEKEND #1 of 6: Hugo's Paintings

Wow, it sure seems like we had a lot of fun even though we were only gone a couple days!

Baja Angel and I were on the road Friday afternoon for the easy drive south. The only new item I observed was a agricultural inspection on the toll road a few miles south of the Rosarito toll booth. NO FRUITS or VEGGIES beyond that point, it seems.

Dinner was at Cielito Lindo... we shared the cracked crab... more than enough with the margaritas they serve. (personal note: this was the second time I ordered the famous house dish, and didn't like it either time)... Our first choice for dinner was Laura's Wet Buzzard at Gypsy's RV Park, next to Cielito Lindo... alas, at 8:30, Laura had already closed for the night (sign says 10 pm closed)!

We arrived in El Rosario and checked into the Baja Cactus Motel to our beautiful room #103... Sleeping is easy with such comfortable beds... Antonio told me he bought the best mattresses hotels use for his new rooms.

The next day (Saturday), we went to Hugo Lopez' 'Tacos Mision' on the left as you drive out of town, past the sign for the mission site. We had a great dish of machaca and eggs with fresh brewed coffee... it was delicious!

Hugo is the artist who did the paintings on display at the Baja Cactus Motel... I showed you several I saw last November at http://vivabaja.com/1104

Hugo has new work on display, and he will offer more in time for the FESTIVAL of El Rosario on July 22-24.

Here is Hugo with one... more to follow...
