A thought on Living in Baja Ca.

when ever you build or rent a new house or a new person buys or rents an old one you are displacing another Little peace of Baja. If you buy an older house in the middle of town like I did then someone else will need to build one outside of town. Most all of Baja Ca. is a fragile environment if it be a pile of sand or a peace of desert or A patch of palms or a beach. so we are all guilty of this crime if it is one. people seam to get the Idea that every thing they do is OK but don't let anyone else do it. there are no real easy answers to this dilemma.

Baja Ca. will be for ever changing and will never be the same again.

Just tooo many people and many of them looking for what "we've been lucky enough to find".

The change ain't coming, it's here......money talks etc.

Over the next 5 to 8 years you will see endless immigration to Baja...lots of Norte Americanos retiring and with mucho dinero....all you can do is sit back and watch the side show...

I'm goin fishin.....adios

Nice thoughts Bruce - and an important topic.

I think we're all short on solutions - yeah - cash is certainly King.

Maybe a partial solution would be to live more like most Mexicans do - smaller house - driving less - using less resources.

But it's tough when you have the cash to spend.

Baja is its own worst enemy, its too beautiful, too unique and too accessible to people who want to live here and have the money to do it. Fortunatly most of the population is centralized. There are still plenty of unspoiled pristine places left so next time you find one don't tell anyone about it, sort of like the secret surf spots.

Good thoughts about Baja

After living in Baja and having the Sea of Cortez, more or less to myself for many years, I often think with all the new people coming into Baja are more interested in looking at the Sea instead of using it to find Peace within their hearts.
Instead of filling up Baja in a few small Places maybe more words should be said about the Sea and the Remote spots, easily gotten to with a Boat. It would spread some of the Population.

For many of you at 40 years of age there are still many Places to go if you, want to get a way fom the herd. My prediction is that Baja will be another Flordia in 50 years, and maybe sooner if we can talk Canada to shipping Water south to Baja and Mexico. It will take another 50 years unless some way to get water to Baja comes about sooner.

Anyway find your spot and enjoy a beautifull place and its People. Guess there is ome advantage to being old and having enjoyed Loreto before the Thundering Herd Arrived!!

Try Tambabechie!!

Be calm of mind. Mother nature is working on checking the population explosion that is degrading the quality of life all over the globe. She still has a few good plagues up her sleeve. She has used them and wars over the centuries, with telling results, whenever the population has gotten out of wack.

Worry not for she is much stronger than mere humans who seem always filled with hubris until she strikes them down.

No, I am not kidding and this has nothing to do with religion although the plagues of the past have, for some unknown reason, increased attendance at local places of worship.

It is just so sad that people are mucking up this last bastion of simplicity---Baja.

Here's a way for y'all to make yourselves feel a whole lot better.

Just close your eyes and spend a minute envisioning what Baja California would be like, had the United States succeeded in including it with the other land we grabbed from Mexico at the end of that tidy little war.

Dave is funnier in fewer words than anyone has a right to be--I'm not in his league.

I used to think that all that energy was worth it!

Oh! Well, we all march to different drummers here in Baja.

Regarding plagues---that just goes to show you that humans believe that are more knowing than Nature and thus interfere with her habits of culling the population.

Lera!

In your reference to the little war where we grabbed so much from Mexico, did that include the Alamo?

Us Texans see it in a entirely different manner. But as you know us Texans are a different kind of Folk, you know like Sam Houston, George Bush Sr. Geroge W. Bush.

We could always pass a Law tha the only way to get food would be to Work for it. That would eliminate a lot of people who would starve to Death if they could not get on a Horse and herd Cows into the slaugher Pens so they could eat Steaks.

In a different light, think about what would happen if Baja California siffered a 7 year Drought.

We could get rid of a lot of people fast.

Only God Knows.

Well, as Im moving to mulege in july, I guess Im one of those people your talking about. I have been coming to baja for about 17 years and always dreamed of living there. For me, its the only place where I relax and find peace, and like the rest of you, I guess i want to be the last one to move here. Unfortunately I don't think thats likely. I will say this. My experience with the people I have met in baja is they all somewhat different from the people I deal with on a regular basis in california. A rare breed perhaps. Its not for everyone, and for that I thank God. By the way, I always heard that a Texan is just a Oklahoman that got lost. Sorry Sheet......
