Laguna Hanson pics

Drove up to Laguna Hanson for the first time today. Beeeutiful. The smell of sage and pine made the trip worthwhile itself. The dirt road was in good shape and I never had to use 4wd the entire trip. A regular car could easily make this trip.

We brought the fly rods hoping to do some fishing but the wind was gusting and from what I've heard the lake(s) dry up some years so there might not be any fish in there anyways.

Sorry about the quality of the pics. They lose a lot of quality when I downsize them to meet yhe 50 k limit.

Thanks Pokey, those are great! One of the MANY places I still have not personally seen in Baja!

Lots of aquatic plants in both lakes. Reminded me of a spring creek. There were literally tens of thousands of frogs hopping along the shoreline.

It was incredible Dave K. Soon I'd like to head down to the San Pedro Martir. Maybe I'll find some trout down there.

Last pic. My father, visiting from NY, feeling the breeze!! We both immediately noticed the difference in air quality. So pure and easy to breathe

There was plenty of excellent places to camp around the lake. And a noticeable lack of garbage :bounce::bounce:

You're kiddin! I've been some place you haven't? Glad to see it still looks the same... Kinda like Taos or Santa Fe, like was said.... Went there one Easter week in late 80's in a real Baja explorer rig - '85 Honda Civic 4-door - was a week or so after a race; all the rocks and hazards were still flagged up..... The Civic made a great sandwash sled<G> Took off from Ensenada, to Ojos, Hanson, south to Mike's, then out to SF... about 100 mi of race course (in a company car!)

Yeah, Pokey, great pics!... Gota get up there this summer - maybe camp, should be ccol at night on top!

Neil, that's right! I proudly say at the end of my posts: "So Much Baja, So Little Time..."

I have been going to Baja since I was a kid in 1965... But, the peninsula is just so magnificent that in my entire life I will not see it 'all'.

Another thing about camping there is the incredible night sky. A stargazers paradise.

Thank you Pokey. The Hansen area is very different indeed from the rest of Baja. In my first explorations up there I encountered a sawmill. Imagine that in Baja. Good words and thanks.

Beautiful pics, pokey. I heard about how the Laguna had dried up, etc., but with the rains, it looks amazing. I would also love to visit there one day...

Brought the girls up to LH today. There were a few more campers there but the place still felt empty. This is such a great side trip for us. 1 hr 45 min from our house in Ensenada.
