Festival Pot Luck...

Hook, Wilderone and I are interested in getting a Pot Luck together on Sat. night (providing nothing else is scheduled)

Anyone else interested please chime in and tell us where you will be staying, when you will arrive, and what you might want to bring for dinner (17 pots of the samething wouldn't be good me thinks?)

An added bonus, for me at least, would be if you have children to add to our party (no, not for food! ) In fact, (I hope I don't offend anyone, but, I was thinking that some people like kids around, and some don't......nothing wrong with that, just the way it is) I'd like some feed back on where the families are camping with children as I would like to be there......

If I could get a list of who is interested, please post names here......anyone else? Thanks, Debra

Why don't you people really do it up right and invite some to the local people/and/or hire them to cook some of their favorite dishes. Antonio could probably help you out with it, or is this festival, Gringo only. In that case it would make you all, P-nche Gringo's.:spingrin:

I was only suggesting a potluck

if there are no good in-town options.

The best in-town option, IMO, would be if there were food booths set up as part of the Festival. But we need the details on the Festival for that.

A restaurant is probably not an option as a group this large would likely overwhelm the kitchen and can you imagine the headaches at dividing the bill? (Can you imagine how long a burrito would take at Mama's with a party of 40 or so? :O).

I would not be keen on an in-town potluck....just not the same vibe with all the other commercial options around. It might be looked upon as being rather non-inclusive by the locals....although they certainly could join us.

All part of the planning process.........

Seems like local food is going to be a featured part of everything. Heres from a DK earlier post.

OK Nomads:

There is going to be quite a lot of events at this first ever fiesta celebrtating the founding of the town (mission) of Rosario (EL ROSARIO) on July 20, 1774.

To name a few:

Food, music, area tours, story-telling, local industry expo, beauty pageant, dancing... did I say food?

Be there or be square!

Continue on with us to Mision Santa Maria after the event if you have a sturdy vehicle! See my Baja Notebook for details.

One of the concerns I just spoke with Antonio about today (6-23) was food, and how you folks were concerned about dinner Saturday. I did say there is no great love for meals at Mama Espinoza's anymore (for some)...

As I said in an earlier post, and Me No reminded you as well (thanks Tom), the WILL BE lot's of food served... in the form of booths representing the various restaurants and food types of the region... Antonio again confirmed this.

Have you ever had a problem eating in Mexico??? The food is awesome! Let's have a pot luck Monday night at Mision Santa Maria, if you want an exotic local! Remember, it is going to be really HOT there... so bring LOT's of ice and cold drinks.

Sounds good David,

The only problem I've had eating in Mexico is when I have had a hungry kid and we have depended on someplace and either they were closed, or as mentioned above, overwhelmed by the masses.....I'm more than happy to eat local! (bummed about no lobster though!)

And Me No....as far as "invitinging the locals" it is they that have invited us.

I think Tom meant invite to your pot luck...

Again, so much food is available in Mexico... don't worry!

One of the tents at the festival will be to show the local industry... lobsters being one and Antonio is going to see if there is a chance at getting a special permit to serve lobster during the festival... It is probably a long shot...
