Thanks, DK, for those great photos. The last time we stayed there, some engineers were surveying the place for the new addition, and it was nice to see things turned out so well.

But reservations sure don't mean much. Although I got a U2U confirming reservation of Room 203 for July 22 and 23 well in advance, when we arrived on the afternoon of the 22 the room was occupied and no others were available. My U2U (a polite one, expressing disappointment) has received no response.

I think JR has a point....

....the motel MIGHT have been paying attention to U2Us around the Festival time, but probably not now.

Back to the traditional methods.......

Room reservation

BajaLera,

I am sorry about your reservation with us... I sent you an e-mail last week (august 24th) addressing this issue.... perhaps you did nor receive it?

Anyway, I am really sorry to have caused you any inconvenience...we always do our best to honor all our reservations up to the last minute.

Now, here is what happened... I sent you an e-mail on July 15th confirming your reservation of room 206 (not 203 as you U2U me) for the 22nd and 23rd of july, as you previously requested, however, on the 22nd, around 8:40 my staff called me and explained to me that no one showed for a couple of rooms we had reserved for Bajanomad's friends....so I ask them to hold them for another more hour and then clear them if no one showed up.... so they did.

For obvious reasons... unless pre-paid, all our rooms reservations expire at 8:00 pm... if someone calls on their way down explaining they are running late, then we can hold it until 10:00 pm.

I would love it if you would ask my staff to contact me... I would have found you a room somewhere....if ANYONE EVER has a problem while in El Rosario (no matter what about)... AT ANY TIME... do not hesitate to go to the BajaCactus Motel lobby and ask my staff to contact me... I am ALWAYS in contact with them and I will try to help out.

Anyway Bajalera.... as I explained on my last e-mail... I deeply apologize for the inconvenience and, as I also explained, I would like to offer you a courtesy stay in your next trip thru Baja...

Antonio M.

Nice gesture Antonio!

Lera, I wonder if you asked for room 203 instead of 206, and that is what was a miss? Did you identify yourself as 'Bajalera'? What time did you show up?? I am sure Antonio regrets not being able to meet you.

I think we arrived about 10 pm and they were asking if I had any last minute news of cancellations... In fact, John M had emailed me that his Jeep wasn't working and he wasn't going to be there. So, at 10 pm his room (for 2 people) was still open until I told Antonio (when we arrived) his was available... but soon was filled as people were waiting to hear of cancellations.

Bummer, that we didn't get to meet you either!

Can't find any e-mails [my daughter's computer is even more unfriendly than my own].

We arrived on the 22nd around 4:30 in the afternoon. My son identified the reservation as being for bajalera, was told there was none and that no rooms were available. [Salmonella had really gotten to me, so I didn't go to the lobby.]

There was obviously some sort of a mix-up, but nothing worth drumming up a grudge about. From what I've read about your activities, Antonio, you sound like a competent and gung-ho businessman, and I'm sure your operations don't have glitches very often. Thanks for the offer, but a complimentary stay isn't necessary--we simply went on to San Quintin, so you have no need to do penance!
