I bought some surplus parachute cloth - incredibly strong and featherweight, a lady of my acquaintance triple-seamed it and we put grommets in the
corners.
IT's silent in those sudden night storms, will not tear.
This is a joke, but it's on me. We do a lot of remote camping in Baja, and when you find that perfect place, we don't want to move for 2 weeks. My
camper has 30 gals of water, my boat trailer has 30 (+ 40 gals gasoline for the boat), so it's really enough - BUT -
for that perfect rig - how about a Survivor 36 (in the West Marine catalog). camp down near the shore, run a tube out with a filter, and desalinate!
3amp/hr and about 2 gals of water if I remember correctly.
Mercifully, I decided that this was perhaps overkill . . ..

I don't think a desal unit is "over the top" at all!
We usually go "muy compo" for 3 weeks at a time and prefer the spans to even be longer. Anything that advances that goal is GREAT as far as I'm
concerned.
If your going for surf...chances are you are not going to be alone. because of this, we also carry 5 G water bottles so that when someone else goes to
town, we hand them some bottles and pesos.
