the tooth mouse

Years ago, When I was a little kid, when you you lost a
tooth, the tooth fairy would come in the night and take your
tooth, and leave you a dime or a quarter!
Here in Baja, there is not a tooth fairy but a tooth Mouse!
I have been giving tooth Mouse money to my little one since
she started loosing teeth. With inflation and the upward
spiral of the cost of teeth, My daughter now gets 100 pesos
under her pillow at night for the tooth Mouse!
But I do get a very well done drawing of the Midnight Mouse
taking the tooth! In pencil, sometimes in colored pencils
I consider this 10 bucks well spent!
I save these pieces of art in my desk drawer, to look at in
my soon to come old age.
I thought some of you might enjoy this little baja blurb!
Maybe too bland for some, but meaningful to me this eve.
Thanks.
Mike
Good night to all of you with little kids!!

Holy cow ! Don't tell my kid that the tooth mouse gives $10 or I'll be in serious trouble !!

We actually had a discussion on this very subject last night.
My 10 year old lost two teeth this week !

We have the tooth ferry and when I jokingly said that
"maybe you should put them under your pillow one-at-a-time because if the tooth ferry is small like tinkerbell, she might not be able to carry two silver dollars at once."
My daughter said that she thought the tooth ferry was more of a spirit with powers to move things so it wouldn't be a problem.

Kids !! :lol::lol:

I can't wait until our 4 year old starts losing his !

Good stuff!

Our 22-month old is picking up new words and stringing them together constantly. Much of the time he rambles on just for the practice and, much like my comprehension of Spanish, I understand a very limited amount of what he's saying. Naturally, we're speaking to him all the time to help with his vocabulary and can only guess how much he actually comprehends.

This evening, at bedtime, I offered him an option I wasn't sure he'd understand. Holding his toy plastic lizard next to my face I said, "would you rather give Daddy a goodnight kiss or the lizard?" Without a word he looked at me and the lizard, grabbed the lizard and gave it a kiss on the mouth.

I swear I waited until I was four before I started to harass my parents. :P

I'd take the "Silver Dollar" , worth at least 6 bucks and a helluva lot more secure than Fed Reserve Notes:light:

I am glad to see that there are so many baja parents on the forum. This photo seems appropriate.

Camote,

They always understand more than you give credit for starting at that age.
When mine were younger, I would laugh at my wife for her long, detailed explanations. I stopped laughing when they started repeating her words with understanding ! I started explaining more carefully !

"Well actually, dad, the stars aren't just twinkling lights; they're really big balls of molten rock and flaming gases !" from a 3 1/2 year old.

Don't put them in your drawer--FRAME 'EM AND HANG THEM. Kids love that.:tumble::tumble::tumble::tumble::tumble:

Where do babies come from in Mexico?

I'm very curious to know if there is a story about where babies come from in Mexico...for instance, we have the stork story in the US. I asked a co-worker from Mexico, but he couldn't think of any such story. Does anyone here know?

False! He mentioned that the mouse fairy was a used in 'BAJA' in place of the Tooth Fairy.

But thanks for keeping track-- knowing you are doing your job and protecting all posts BAJA will keep me honest(?).:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Sorry Bernie, I better read more closely. Just for your info I know it is a Baja forum but I think a little diversion is good as long as its not attacking posts, and is informative or humorous.

This thread gives me the opportunity to show off our oldest in Mexican kinder garden:spingrin: She doesn't look too happy when the picture was taken but that's probably because mom and dad were crimping her style. :P
