Cheapest Pay Phones

Anyone know the cheapest way to call home to Canada from Baja. I've been told the best way is to buy long distance phone cards in Mexico & use pay phones. What type of cards are best, where can I buy them, and are some pay pphones better than others. Thanks

The phone cards work well. Reasonable, same rate any time of day. You can buy them at almost any small grocery store. I'm afraid my dementia has reared its ugly head again... I think they are TelCel????:?:

Whatever you do, DO NOT use the pay phones with signs in English, inviting you to "call home". You will be savagely violated. The Ladatel card is good, but You might want to check the collect rates for whatever service you have at home, or arrange to make a very short call and have them call you back somewhere.

A new phenomonen to me, phone cards being sold in the middle of the street, in traffic. I don't know which companies.

Do not under any circumstances use any pay phone that wants your credit card....

Ladatel is the best bet.

Do not buy Amigo cards as they are for Telcel cell phones. I say that because they sell those in the middle of the street like Tucker said.
