In support of Doug

Time for true Nomads to stand up and support Doug.
He busts his backside to provide a good forum for the place we all love, then the nibblers and the trashers all work to bring it down.
Recently I discussed this with him and he said, "Nomad is a community, and I am hoping that the community will act as one so that I don't always have to be the bad guy"
Yesterday he had to make a strong post against a long time member.
I support that post.
I don't mind people taking issue with my posts, correcting me, or even strongly disagreeing with me.
What I do object to is name calling (that went out in the third grade in our community), personal attacks (you went to the prinicipal's office for those) and all the other 'stuff' that has gone on.
Actually, it has been pretty good lately, more Baja, less bile.
Let's support Doug and keep it that way.

NOTICE---- I named no names, called out no personalities.

But, it needs to be a kinder, more informative place, or some of us do need to name names and call out the offenders.

Last time it got bad I went away.
That was not fair, the bad guys need to go away, or become good guys.

Now, isn't that a pretty easy choice???
Well, at least it is a start.

Well-put bajarunner - Doug has my repect though I've never met him.

He does a good job of walking the fine line. I hope he's willing to continue.

Although why he hasn't booted Lera is a mystery to me.

I also agree. I always thought that Lera was the bad apple, hiding behind that sweet disposition. Can't fool us....

Why heck darn

I even agree with that, excepting of course a "mistake" that was made regarding my identity.
And I am sure that Doug knows how much time I have spent sticking up for him when others have accused him of some things.
Personally, I think he's a pretty fair guy. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste my time here trying to make new friends.

I agree bajarunner. Being a community, I think, when a thread starts getting personal attacks, we users should hit the report key and Doug can decide if the threat that becomes trash talk is moved to the playground (Off-Topic Area) or just deleted. That way he does not have to do all the work.

This is, by far, the best and most informative site about Baja on the web. It is sad that there are some who feel it is their own personal location to take shots or sh!its at others. Especially in a public forum.

I can totally understand why some use the Anon approach in response to some of the posts made, no one like to get the flaming that comes from so very few on this site.

Doug, is doing a great job, maintains his cool in the face of very aggresive and obnoxious behavior that gets spawned here.

Kudos to the man!

I guess most of you remember when I was a big supporter of JR because he did have a unique approach and valuable information to share on Baja. All that changed a couple of months back when I realized that his B.S. would never stop and that it far outweighed his knowledge of Baja.

I also support Doug for the way he deals with this 'Community.' (I must say I do not have the patience that he does). Ssdly, community pressure has had zilch effect on JR.

When JR's comments and attitude returned to his normal negative self I decided that I would no longer have anything to do with anything he said here.----

Suprise! I found that the off-topic forum was much more civil than most of his posts.

Anyway, apparently he has been warned and warned and warned and yet he still takes cheap shots at many of the members of this community and most specifically at the guy(Mr. Nomad) who allows him to flap his jaws with impunity. I don't see this leopard changing his spots so I will just continue to stay away from his posts. At least when he really gets nasty he restricts that to U-2-U's or emails to vent his spleen on anyone who he figures has crossed him in the slightest manner.

This is not intended to be a defense of Jr. He's a big boy and can take care of himself. He obviously has some baggage he hauls around that affects how he thinks, but so do the rest of us. We just express it in a different way. I'll close with this. I have been critical of Jr. in the past, but I have always tried to make it constuctive and not name calling, and up to this point, he has never lashed out at me. Do I condone all of his behavior? Not up to me folks. But he does intertain me and make me laugh sometimes.

Ya just gatta know when your chain is being pulled.

its kinda like...

we're all a bunch of overgrown kids that all like the same playground and Doug provides a forum for us all to come and talk it over....or something like that, anyways with regards to jr...his agressive and sometimes offensive style doesnt bug me till he wears it out on one person (i.e.David K)...i think if he enjoys F'ing with people on here and Doug doesnt care, well more power to him...its not exactly my approach to making new friends, but hey everybodys gotta do it their way,right:smug::smug:
