Paradise=Baja

My favorite experience in Baja is a continuing one that started way back in 1964 when Art McLaren first introduced me to the old Indian wood carver just outside Tijuana. It continued with each contact I have had with the People, both Mexican and Gringo?s, who make Baja what it is. A land where people still close an agreement with a firm handshake and where if you are in need every real Baja person will come to your assistance.

Here everyone is treated with an honest and straight forward respect. It warms my heart when I am greeted with, ?Hola mi amigo, como e tu, Burnie (that is not a typo it is how they call my name). I am humbled when I am invited to share a Fiesta with all of my Mexican friends. These are the people who made me understand that ?time? is only your friend if its passing adds to your enjoyment of life.?

Sure, the scenery is the most gorgeous in the whole world and we have all learned to breath to crashing of the waves and are soothed by the howling of the desert winds. The sunsets and the sunrises make the whole peninsula like a temple where we all commune with basic, raw, nature.

But it is the people who make Baja A Little Bit of Paradise!

My smidgen of a claim to fame is that I have had so many really good friends. By Bernie Swaim December 2007

B"U"RNY

That's the type of stuff we need more off on this board. Very nicely put.
With all the development I hope it won't in the near future become
" PARADISE LOST "!!!

Yes Frank....I like that one too

And it is definitely the people who are the magic of Baja.

One of the pluses of being in business here is that you get to meet all kinds of local people. Of all the people with whom we do business, I cannot think of any that are problems . Now the big corporations are another story. But the mom and pop newstands or small shop owners that we sell to are all charming, warm, honest people and we look forward to seeing them.

My neighbors are a large part of the reason I live here and decided to retire here.....did I say retire....oh I forgot about that.

Muchisimas Gracias a los Choyeros(the cactus people)
