El Rosario Town Map #1,2, & 3 added

Here is my first draft of the map to help visitors find services in El Rosario. This map is of 'El Rosario Arriba', along Highway 1.

There is also more of 'Arriba' along the road to La Bocana, to the west of the sharp curve, as well as the older town of Rosario Abajo, across the river...

Anyway, this will be a work in progress...

The ticks on Mex. 1 are 1/10th mile marks from the sharp curve... Baja's Best B&B (#32) is 2.1 miles from the curve, for example...

Good, it doesn't show the turnoff to the "secret" surf spots.....

The hand drawn map just reminded me of the maps from some of the "old" (1970's) baja guide books....

I am trying to figure how to reduce the thing! It is under 50 kbs per Doug's limit, but the size is way too big, on the screen... I need to get to work, so bare with the size until I can play with it some more...

Again, this is just the first draft and will improve... the numbers and other hand writing on the map will change, and I will add more details/topgraphy, etc.

Neal,

With the lossy nature of JPGs and this image having few colors, it's more suited to be a GIF:

Sorry David, but I had to laugh when I read the title of your post. I just always thought that one turned left at the bottom of the hill....
thanks,

Really great

Printed it out and it's in my Baja Almanac, that way all I have to do is remember what I did with it before we leave. John

Neal & Doug,
Thanks for reducing it... I would appreciate though if you could email me the steps so I can do it myself in the future...

Paulina... I don't understand your post... One does turn left (east) at the bottom of the hill to stay on Mex. 1.

Bruce and John, please don't get too excited about this map... it is quite homely and not finished... Plus, it is only of the town along Mex. 1... There is a lot more town down the dirt road to the right (west) and the seperate part, called Abajo, across the river by the second site of the Rosario mission.

I just wanted to show you guys a work in progress...
Thanks again!

HAAA!!!! and i thought i was losing it. good to know there are others who suffer, also.

David-don't shortchange yerself. it is past due for a detailed map of the town. even if it is primitive, the detail will allow more folks to stop and enjoy the town instead of just buying gas, maybe eating at mama's and heading on down the road. thanks...

David,
I was just being silly. No harm no foul. We usually only stop at the Pemex and at one of the local markets for refreshments on our way south. A long time ago there used to be a small taco stand at the bottom of the hill, to the right, just next to the large market. We always ate there, and if I remember right, it was the front room of the lady's house. I'd like to know what happned to that lady and her house. It's an empty spot now.
Since then we haven't eaten in town, other than a quickie here or there at Mama's.
As always,
P.<*)))><

10-4 Paulina... Antonio may know what happened to that place... I hope now that you have heard of the other good places to eat... you will try someplace else besides just Mama's. Tacos Mision is Hugo's place and you can see much of his art work there... His wife makes butterflys out of clam shells and paints them for wall ornaments, as well.

You could enlarge the section to the left of No. 19 and box it in a rectangle, and put the road to the right at a smaller scale. This would give enough room to place the names besides the features, which is a lot more convenient than having to keep referring to a long list.

Great map David! Audrey and I have eaten at Loncheria El Pollito a few times. And, you and I both know about the food at La Bocana Beach Restaurant! These places are finally getting discovered.

I think the map is great and will print it and place it in the glove box with all the other stuff I forget is there.
