Riviera Chase Truck In Accident In San Felipe

On the way to town this morning there was a traffic accident in the middle of Hwy 5 about 6 miles north of town. The road was blocked and there were a lot of emergency vehicles. We were diverted around it and when we went by I saw it was a Black Riviera Chase Pickup and empty tandem trailer. It was in the middle of the road but looked like it had rolled. There was one other car involved on the west side of the road. I don't know what happened, but from the looks of the vehicles, it was pretty bad. When we returned from town, the pickup was in the Federal impound yard about 2 miles north of town and a tow truck was hooking up on to the trailer at the accident site.

I don't know any status of injuries or what happened.

It is a new pickup, towing an empty trailer, with the Riviera Racing Team name painted on the truck. They obviously have a vehicle somewhere in the desert pre-running for the Baja 1000 (that is an off-road race that happens every year in November in Baja). They use the trailer to haul the vehicle around when it is not pre-running or when they break it. Hope this helps.

No, not yet. I will ask around and see what I can find out. Information for things like this is really hard to come by here too.
