RIP Baja dog, a brindle Great Dane

She was born in Mexico, D.F.

She was 2 & 1/2 years old.

Her name was Koa. She greeted everyday with energy and enthusiasm, challenging and pushing her life out into the envelope.

Two days before she passed, she vomited her meal and went downhill from there. She did not have dirrarhea. The only symptoms were high fever and high blood pressure.

The lab tests (plural) ruled out poisoning and infection.

Why am I posting her story here?

She was a Baja dog and had courage and nobility that I aspire to.

I am sitting here looking at my two Baja dogs and feeling your pain.
To me all dogs are special but the ones you save, know it...I do believe that.
Sorry for your loss.

Frail words fail expressions of sorrow or loss of a best friend. I know, in my heart of hearts, Koa now romps and plays in a better place. One day in the distant future she'll be waiting for you. To play and romp and love you again.

My Best to you,

As always.

a poem for you, and to remember my "cheeto", RIP amigo.

the rainbow bridge

there is a bridge connecting heaven and earth.
it's called the rainbow bridge becuase of its colors.
just this side of the rainbow bridge is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

when a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
there is always food and water and warm spring weather.
the old and frail animals are young again. those who are maimed are made whole.
they play together all day.

there is only one thing missing.... they are not with their special people who loved them on earth....
each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. the nose twitches. the ears are up. the eyes are shining, staring.
and this one suddenly runs from the group.
you have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and look once more into the eyes of your special friend.

then you cross the rainbow bridge together, never again to be seperated.:saint:

There is a Place

That we call memory?

A province by itself

Which, though unseen, is home

And heaven to the heart?

And there,

In peace and beauty waiting,

Are those with whom we shared our yesterdays?

Been through it myself.

I'm so very sorry.

There are many more Baja Dogs out there that need love too.

Sorry to hear about Koa, Jan.

The high fever part has me kind of concerned for our other four legged friends. Would they have tested for the new flu?
