Quality of gasoline....

Last two trips I have bought gasoline in baja....and noticed decrease in performance....especially "pinging" even under light throttle.....this time I even got the premium with same results....truck runs fine on US regular gas.....

Was wondering if something has changed with their gas....

and no ...I won't accept the idea of "russian mafia" or CIA plot as the cause......gotta do better than that....:O

I've been told that gas in most of northern Baja is actually refined in California, just some of the "California" additives are left out. Makes sense, I haven't seen many refrineries in Baja Norte

If that's the case, maybe you've gotten some water with the gas. I'd try different stations or some "drygas".

Gasoline

No matter where I buy gas I add 1 1/2 OZ of ACETONE to each tank full, Every other tank I add Lukas fuel conditioner. I have never had pinging with any gas in the last 15 years.
My Tacoma is still new but my 1998 Geo has 190,000 on it with the original injector/carb and 1 oxygen sensor and 1 set of spark plugs, using twin tip platinum. It uses no oil.

That might be a solution to the gas shortage! Let some Mexican station attendants fill the tankers.
