Loreto's Famous Bartender?
Can you name the "bar" and the "man" behind the bar?
In it's day, this was the great place to have a c-cktail or two, while talking fishing...
Those days in Loreto, I am afraid are gone

Could it be?
That's Vincente tending the Pelicano Bar at what looks like the Mission hotel. I danced on that bar once and hit my head on the glass holder! Paco
was tending bar then

Those were the Days!!
On Saturday Nights there was Dancing and a Buffet downstairs, Quail Dinners prepared by Artuero, lots of good times.
Does anybody know the Blond Lady?/ She and her Husband Built their own Sailboat, salied it to the Sea of Cortez and stayed aboard sailing around
Loreto. for about 5 years.
Decided to come ashore, bought a Tailer and 3 weeks later he died of a Heart Attack while driving, ran into the Sea Wall in his VW.

Skeet..I know you would..
A very great time with Vincente.
I closed that bar, more time tha I want to remember
Here is th Mission Hotel, and you can see why the Peliconos Bar. (upper building with the palapa roof) was the best bar ever to sit and tip a few
glasses

Had a couple great pena coladas there in June 1985... Watched the lightning sky show over the sea that night. Enjoyed it... Why did the hotel fail?

Elivs' toilet!
Francisco and I are good friends with one of the son's of the Doctor who owned the hotel Mission. When we were buildindgour house (actually we're
still building it) we put in a bathroom but didn't have much money at the time. Nene gave us a tiolet from the famous El Mision, sky blue, that we
used for about two and a half years. I used to tell people that Elvis used to use it when he stayed at the El Mision!
.....yeah I know, four feet or so, well I was doing the limbo

Nene has since moved on open his "newest" venture downtown > "The Office" bar. It seems to be slow going, but might catch on with all the activity
in Loreto these days..
I am not sure what Renato is up to these days.
"Skeet" .. Margareta finally hooked a guy from Sweden visting, and they were
marrried. I am going to have to see if I can up with a photo of her
The buffet you mentioned was always a good spred, and the last time I saw Arturo, was in Guerro Negro at a resturant he owed next to the El Morro.

Chris: i think perhaps Margartia is married and living in Sant Cruz Calif.
I also talked to Artureo several times in GN/
I thought that Charlie Brown of San Francisco was still involved in the Mission??
The Blond lady is Virginia Oremus who I introduced to My Wife/s Father who moved a Trailer onto her Property behind Alfredo and Gails Motel. Shortly
thereafter Roy and Virginia O married and lived in Los Bano Calif, until Roys Death. She now resides in Florence Oregon in an Assisted Living Home.
She is Still a Beautiful Blond Lady at nearly 90 anos.

I ran into Charlie Brown in Elk Grove, Ca, (near Sacto) about a year an a half ago, he looked like he was on his last legs. The last bartender there
while it was open was Loreto i think. I think he had a stroke or something, was not that old.

Loreto is Doing Fine...
Loreto was a bartender at one time at the Mission, but then had the stroke....Paco
was the last bartender I know of at the Mission.
Today, you can find Loreto outside his casa on calle Davis, rocking and waiving at everyone who drives by.
Here's a pic of the Loreto working the Saturday night buffet at the Mission...the "Other Lady" in the picture has played a big part in Loreto's ealy
days

bartender
Saw Vicente today. Told him about the picture on the net. He said it had to be before 1990 as that's when he left La Misi?n. Looks older than that to
me. When was it taken? He was happy to hear of his enduring fame.
Renato was at Info Turistico last I saw him.
An LA partnership bought the hotel early last year and said they would reopen in August (2005). Doesn't look like they're going to make it. I see no
sign of work going on.

Vincente..
Tehag,
I gave Vincente and Rosa a framed copy of that picture last year.. They were both very pleased, was hoping he would hang it up in his new place, along
with some other images I gave him
