What other Baja websites provide your fix?

I tend to spend plenty of time on the BajaNomad forums. I was wondering what other Baja-related websites provide that Baja fix? I originally came here from the Amigos de Baja forum, and haven't looked around at the others.

"Fred's board" http://www.math.ucr.edu/ftm/bajaPages/MsgBoard/

is always good for straight info, no flames- but, no pics, simple format.

Baja.net is still good for off-road and racing info as long as you're ok with a decidedly right-leaning political view (or can ignore same).

otherwise, most others are either highly localized or self-serving and commercialized.

I really miss Amigos, too. Wish Earle would consider reviving it.

There are lots of fishing forums and some RVing forums which have sidelines about Baja...but scant few strictly about Baja itself. I visit a lot of different specialty sites which may help with a certain Baja project or use, but never came across any like Baja Nomads discussion forum. Sorry, guess that was not much help. Keep the search box going...it will appear one day, I expect. Baja is changing and growing..people WILL talk.

I never knew about the Amigos board, but feel that I missed something.

I was a proud "Amigo", but I think that Nomads may be even better.

If the amigos board had a place for the mud wrestlers, it didn't get much use. It is nice that so much of the hate talk from one of the other boards goes to "off topic" and is in effect quarantined. It makes Baja Nomads a much more civilized place to visit. I'm damned if it doesn't feel sort of like family some times. Thanks to all my Nomadic Amigos.

And, an even bigger thanks to Doug for holding it all together.

As to the question. I haven't bothered to do more than put my toe in the water at the other boards; found the water less hospitable at one and downright polluted at another.

If you do, besides bajanomad, I also read in the mornings the front page of El Sudcaliforniano http://www.elsudcaliforniano.com.mx while I listen to http://www.cabomil.com.mx then read http://www.frontera.info and also view http://www.vialidad.telmex.net/foto.php?NF=14& that is a live picture of La Paz. Then before I leave home I check http://www.tijuana.gob.mx/garita/ . When I have evenings off, I sometimes tune in to http://www.tvbaja.com from La Paz.

Also, like many I lurk and sometimes post on Fred's board (Baja California Travelers) and the Trailer Sailor Sea of Cortez board:

I also came aboard in the begining, when the amigos board, and I must say that this one has more options as to subject matters. I miss those days, when for the first time I got to meet people from the internet, thanks to David K and his parties, and especialy I miss a person who I much admire, but no longer participates, I'm sure he must lurke because I, personaly would find it hard to just dissapear. In his honor fernadetijuana turned into fdt, I liked that ldb sound. I got to meet a great person Oso, Mylelf and my family had the pleasure to be at his beautiful home in Yuma, ( le debo otra botella al cabron asi que tengo que ir otra vez:lol:). Last trip back, we needed some cash and I got to meet Bruce in Mulege, who kindly ATM'd me (for a small fee). It's funny, but if not for all of your guy'ss posts I would have never had a tamale at Carmelitas (we mexicans don't trust those street side vendors in the middle of nowere :lol::lol:)

I check in at baja.com every couple of months or so despite the fact that I have only posted there twice, and that was over 3 years ago. I like the chiite list they have there the most.

I too was a Amigoes poster and baja.com, I will not comment on the latter. I have quit this board too a couple of times because I used to get really mad.. I have tried to mellow out and just ignore certain people.
Don H. has tried to start a couple of boards as have others but there are not enough active posters to keep two or more boards interesting.
If some of the lurkers became active as a few did in the last couple of months it would liven thing up some.
There is a vast amount of Baja knowledge and experience available in the member Nomads that post and as always I especially enjoy those trip reports that start "I was bogged in the mud up to XXXXX"

After Lorenzo de Baja (LdB) and I met, we did two Baja trips in 2000... They are the second and third trips in the section of my Baja trip photos at VivaBaja.com

We met at the San Clemente pier the same day I met Fernando, or Ferna de Baja (fdb)!

I visit here mostly, but I also like Greg's sites (see his post above). I also visit Camp Gecko's site sometimes and also the the San Felipe site to see local weather there. I also send newbies I know to DavidKs site to get a feel for Baja.
