Nomads

Anyone have solid info on the DHL service to Baja???

Need to get important papers to Notario in Santa Rosalia.

Not sure if they only deliver to major airports????

Thanks Capt. George

Check UPS as well. Our friends had some papers sent UPS overnight (or 2 day) to Ensenada. They just had to go to the UPS office in Ensenada and pick them up.

We have had papers delivered to us from Nicaragua, and sent some as well, by dhl and it was door to door. And this was door to door in a rural area. You should check their website for a free quote.

I have absolutely nothing good to say about DHL here.
They actually made me lose my temper.
They have had a package for us for over 3 weeks. First it came here then it went back to La Paz then it went to San Lucas and there it disappeared. 6 trips to the office and I finally went almost postal. I walked out of the door and promised myself never to darken that door again.
However as with everything in Baja, it could be different in Santa Rosalia...I would wait for some of those people to chime in.

Use the US Postal Service Express Mail

You get document reconstruction insurance with each piece.

Your notary has an address in Santa Rosalia and it will be delivered in a few days.

Don't fight the wave....

Capt George,

Agree with Judy on DHL but may only be the way it is in SJD and CSL ..

Where are the papers originating?

We use a very reliable service that delivers thruout the peninsula. I can post contact info tomorrow if you reply affirmatively.

We've sent documents via DHL a few times from Cali. The stuff that went to La Paz got there in 2-3 days.

The things we've sent to the architect in Cd. Constituci?n took 1-3 additional days. DHL utilizes a "local" courier service for deliveries farther than 75-100 miles from the La Paz airport which is what they'd probably do for Santa Rosalia.

The DHL online tracking system can be misleading because it will show the items as having been "delivered" once it arrives at the airport in La Paz. They don't have a way to track it once they hand it over to the local private courier. We thought they had lost our stuff a couple of times because of this, but so far, everything we've sent has gotten there eventually.

I'd put as much descriptive info as you can about the destination ("Esquina de ? , the "Colonia" in Santa Rosalia and the Cod?go Postal which is 23920).
If the Local courier from La Paz isn't familiar with the town, it can add a couple of days extra to your delivery if he can't find the location.

Use the United States Postal Service!!!Express Mail

Havent you see the comercials on tv about where and who gets your stuff when you use private couriers.

You might as well just give it to a stranger to take down and hope he delivers it...

It's not really rocket science:lol:

and i'll bet your notario get door delivery.

All of these locations are in Tijuana..You can send to any place that the bus stops along the peninsula.. They have an area in every small terminal where the hold the mdse for the customer to pick up. They are reasonably priced and very reliable. Very nice people so we prefer to support their business.

Used DHL many times over the years sending stuff both ways from/to CSL. Never had a problem, always delivered within the time frame they stated. Cant speak to the problems of others. Prehaps the luck of the draw.

Bob, Susan

I "assume" you have used the U.S. Postal Service yourselves to get stuff to Santa Rosalia or other locations nearby...Am I correct in assuming this??

Very important document...Title to my Abreojos lots!
