Birthday quick getaway

We decided to steal away for our birthdays, something quick. We called Pyramid and got a couple of rooms. Light border traffic going south.

Our first stop was to meet my new friend Johnny and Mateo @ the 1/2 way house for lunch. Good food and good company how can you go wrong? Lunch was a little expensive, but the warm welcome was well worth it, a definite stop everytime.

We checked in with Keri @ Pyramid resort. Nice place, very cozy and quiet. Rooms were awesome, fireplace, great ocean view, a storm rolling in. We pulled the couch up to the fireplace and watched the storm roll in. Ahh Romance. There is some construction going on. Im a Contractor, so it didnt bother me. My wife liked it so much that she wanted to buy one of the units. Too bad they arent for sale. Keri if that changes let me know.

Dinner time. The couple we were with wanted Fried lobster. So off to the Puerto Nuevo lobster factory we go. PN wasnt crowded at all. I know that its fried in Lard, blah blah blah ... I'm sorry it tastes too good not to indulge. A few early spring breaker for Tenn, all were really polite, a welcome site.

Next morning we left early to hit the Ensenada fishmarket. The large shrimp were in... we bought 6 kilos. After a few fish tacos we were north bound. Of course we hit the Bakery on the way home too.

They sure are building that area of the coast fast. I think Im priced out of the market for now. I have to get my little piece of that life.

Who put Jesus up on the hill?

Gee Frank, methinks you should cast yer line further south. More room for now. Say, do they bread and deep fry the bugs just like the prawns? I never heard tell! So you dip it in chile sauce or garlic butter?:?: Usually when Lobster is overcooked it looses all it's pzazz. Does the deep frying keep the juices and texture intact? Sounds like you had good fun.

I think they just split the bugs in 1/2, season it and toss it in the manteca. The Manteca must of been hot, it wasnt over cooked. I have had over cooked lobsters before, it wasnt crowded so I think they did a better job.

I would love to buy further south, Mulege, Loreto, Los Barrlies. I 'm just not able to get away long enough from my kit/bath remodels to be able to buy further south, YET! Living in San Diego makes Baja Norte a easy get away. I have to keep my shoulder to the wheel still.

DRool. One thing though for sure, the Pacific Spinys are much better fare, no matter how they are cooked(within reason).
