Gas prices in Rosarito (and things that make you go hmm)
Last week, the SO (significant other) filled up the Suburban at the Pemex in central Rosarito on the main drag, the little station in between the
south end of town and the other station near the Smart & Final.
The gas needle was sitting on empty, but not sucking wind, so the bill was hefty, more than US $100.
I kept the receipt around, because I wanted to get a snapshot of what the gas prices north and south of the border are right now.
When I finished running the conversions, I waited for a quiet moment at the dinner table.
Me, "Hey honey, did you know that the Magna gas we filled up with at the Pemex costs about ten cents less per gallon than the cheapest gas prices I
could find in San Diego near the border when I looked at gasbuddy.com (and other sites)?"
Him (not really interested), "Oh, OK."
Me, "Honey, how many gallons does the gas tank hold?"
Him, "42 gallons."
Me, "Well, according to the receipt from the Pemex station, you put 44 gallons in the tank."

Paid $3.09 a gallon somewhere just off the I-5 between Redding and Sacramento for regular yesterday -- hubby says Arbuckle was the town!

Gypsy Jan, this is typical at most Pemex stations... that is why Pemex is insisting on lots of new sensors, equipment and eventually new cheat proof
pumps be purchased by station owners!
==================================================================
Here in San Diego area... yesterday went from $2.879 to $2.919 at the lowest Arco stations, $2.959 at other Arcos...
$2.999 to $3.159 at other stations I saw (for regular).

I just gassed up in Kamloops BC the other day.
I paid $1.10 Can per L
= $0.97 US per L
= $3.67 US per US Gallon
This is an outright ripoff! Especially when you consider that Canada is supplying gas to the States.

The higher price is mostly due to government regulations that insist on so many formulas for gas in various regions of our country... Canada is so
highly taxed, I bet you can get that price cut in half if the taxes are dropped. In California, we have rediculous taxes added to gas, as well... They
even tax the tax on gas here (illegal, but done).
If the politicians really cared about the burden placed on us then why don't they ever offer to take a cut in their profits (tax) on gas?

How about if the consumers paid a little attention.
Exxon-Mobil's CEO just retired, and his retirement benefit package will be about six million dollars a year. It will do about as much good as writing
this post, but I will by-pass those stations from now on whenever possible. There are interesting new technologies in bio-diesel being reported. When
we get an administration that isn't in bed with the oil companies, maybe we will see some improvement with bio fuels.

Jack in Kamloops!!
Hey!! That's cheap gas .... today in Victoria the gas is $115.9 Cdn per litre.
Does that saying "You only get what you pay for." apply here? I guess not.
I'll be in such great shape for the beach in Baja next year!! Cuz' for sure very soon, I will be riding my bicycle everywhere. I think I will go
out right now and buy a new bikini.
Ha!! Just trying to look for the positive side.

Mexray, if more folks in the US did that to their car (in your image) maybe gas prices would come down...but fact of the matter is we pay less for gas
than anyone...but of course, those other countries seem to have planned their cities around being able to walk somewhere or use mass transit, unlike
California!

Yup, No about it. The decimal point is in the right place. According to the gas
station, at least.
The price of gas here in Victoria BC went up to $115.9 Cdn. a litre on Wednesday.
I filled the gas tank up on my Baja mobile, a Dodge Ram Camper Van - 318 engine, this morning, and it cost me over $130.00 Cdn. I think it was 112
some odd litres.
What a shock that was.

Maybe you mean $1.159 Cdn. per litre???
Today I paid $2.959 US per gallon (3.785 litres)! $4 per gallon is bad, but $400 per gallon is pretty scary in today's economy... Maybe okay in the
year 2150!?

To our international friends... sometime way back when gas was closer to 25 cents a gallon, I guess the pertoleum distributors thought of a way to
make 26 cents sound like 25 cents ... so they made the price 9/10ths a cent under the next whole cent (25.9 cents/ $0.0259) so people would thing 25
cents and not 26!!!
That stupid law never got dropped and I guess it is practiced in Canada as well?

Yes, you can fill up at Baja Cactus in El Rosario 225 miles from the border and again at the state border or nearby Guerrero Negro another 225 miles
south.
Loreto is 260 miles from Guerrero Negro or get some in Mulege if your range is not that long.
