Home Depot Ensenada

Boy, I can't tell you all the problems I've been having.

Just trying to find out from our local Home Depot if the Ensenada HD has the same products available as here in OC.

2 weeks ago I walked into our local HD and asked them that question. No one there could answer the question. Finally they found the Asst manager and he assured me he would find out and get back to me.

Since then I have visited their website several times. Even the Mexico web site. By the way, they don't have an English version!! All US stores have spanish versions, but not the Mexico sites, Go Figur!!

Finally I get a call last Friday. The asst manager says they don't have a HD in Ensenada. But they do have one in Mexicali and Tijuana!! I tell him in no uncertain terms that there is One in Ensenada. He says he'll have to check into it.

Fast forward to today, Tuesday. I get another call from the guy. Now he says that the Home office in Atlanta says they dont have one in Ensenada!! Geezzz. am I hallucinating every time I drive through Ensenada?

The Asst Manager says he'll keep trying and that he has the phone number of the one in TJ, but he can't get the call to go through. So I ask hime if he has dialed 011 52 and the area code followed by the phone # ............... Long pause on the phone..."You have to dail all those numbers??" By the way, he speaks spanish fluently and has a hispanic name.

I'm waiting for the latest developements.

Any one seen the Home Depot in Ensenada? Any one shop there yet? Am I having Hallucinations??

Inquiring minds want to know

Bedman

PS. Excuse the typos, soft ware won't let me delete or spell check.

Just as a guess I would say 75% US goods 25% other. Have at it guys use your own percentages, by the way I believe its Home Depot Mexico affiliated only.

home depot

is here close to costco in ensenada and it looks like the ones on the usa side, but there the resemblance ends. i think.

we had some cabinets made recently and were looking at handles for drawers. our carpenter suggested we find them at a little mom and pop hardware store. i suggested we try home depot. he said he'd dropped in and that everything he priced (variety off carpentry-related materials and supplies) cost MORE at home depot than at his favorite little store. i was incredulous, but we went and made the comparisons. the (polished nickel modern) drawer handles we selected were 15 pesos each at mom and pop's and 45 pesos each at home depot.:bounce:
not used to that.

don't have any idea why.

Debra,

I didn't want to accuse you of inflationary tactics but a quick calculation approximating 2600 miles/15 mpg X $3.10/gallon equals $537.33 round trip ! The rest is for chips and beer !!

Sylens, and Hose A, since we are starting to build just south of Rosarito, we will be needing a lot of stuff soon. We would love to know where you do your local shopping--for things like hardware, and drawer handles, etc. You both seem to know the "Mom & Pop" type places, and we like to shop locally anyway.

Hose A and Sylens,

Last year, I was shopping for 3" corrugated or coex (smooth-wall) drain pipe to use in the proposed Mision Santa Maria drain solution at the Tijuana Home Depot... Something that is very common in the Home Depots here to control rain and overflow water or to connet to roof gutters to take the rain water out to the street or low area.

No such thing in Mexico it seems, only the heavy wall, expensive sewer pipe. No drain fittings like catch basins or smaller grates either.

I bought some on this side to use, but the project was cancelled at the very last minute by INAH.

This coming from the same guy who scraped the road to Alphonsina's with a device dragging behind his MOHO---what was that trip again ??? 7 hours!

Yes it's there and open for biz...has everything you could ever want. And in downtown Ensenada their is a french delicatessan named "Paris De Noche," rumor has it a number of racers have been hanging out there.

small hardware stores

are everywhere. the one i referred to is actually more a carpenter's shop. i agree with hose a that home depot may be the only place you could find everything on your list. in addition to the small mom and pop stores, though, there is proconsa on reforma (a true value mexican style) and on fourth just 2 or 3 blocks west of reforma there is ace hardware (again, mexican style)

i'm leaving town for 2 weeks tomorrow, but if you want addresses, u2u me and i'll send the info (two weeks from now)
