Either it's lighter than it looks or he's got one heavy duty spring on the back. He appears to be missing his fishing pole.

Ron Popiel was a school friend of my uncle.
We got freebies of most of Ronco's toys.

I actually caught a few 1-2 lb trout with one of those things back in the 70's !

Some one caught a trout of over 30lbs on Montana's Kootenai River with one of those things.

I'd like to try one on a yellowtail. :)
