Caravan to Mulege?
Due to some interesting opportunities in the Mulege area, Jason (NoWorries) and I are now looking more towards heading to the Mulege area instead of
BOLA. Our window of departure is either the evening of 6/8 (simply cross the border and stay between TJ and Ensenada) or dark thirty on the 9th. Plan
on driving straight thru if all goes well. Return time will likely be the following Sat or Sun but the return will be broken into two days. Probable
return stop in SQ or farther north. We both have Monday, the 19th, off as an emergency/cleanup day.
BOLA is still a possibility on the return leg if the opportunities down south dont pan out.
Anyone interested in caravaning down or back, send me a U2U or post your intentions. We will be towing sumpin' big (8500# of boat/trailer) so we wont
be Speedy Gonzalez. But I will do 60-65 on the straights, so we aren't complete dogs, either.

Trailers have caused me more grief on trips than the boat itself. Much of that was due to the condition of the road 10+ years ago.
But this one has new leafs, equalizers, rotors, calipers, bearings and all the associated hardware. Even one new taillite assembly.
That's about all I can do. But I'm bringing backups and a floor jack, JIC.

Two complete sets of bearings, grease, and the tools to replace them are all you should need. Don't forget a cold chisel in case you have a set of
bearings overheating and welding themselves to the spindle. A set of files too. An experienced guy like you will be fine. Good luck.

don't worry...
the road is WAY better now...not like the OLD days...
NO potholes.
most boats have bearing buddies now and don't EVER dry up...
just grease after launching in the salt to remove the hidden water.
oh yea...clean the boat when you get home

I didnt mean to imply that I hadnt towed down there in the last ten years. And, YES, the road is way better.
Got the buddy bearings, too. Wish I could go with that new system that uses ATF in the bearings but I havent seen a set for the big 2.441 end caps.
Supposedly a much better system, IF the seals are installed correctly.
Who has the best carnitas in Mulege, B & S?

To B & S: I dont think I've ever ordered anything but the seafood combo at Equipales......always been pleased with it.

Hook - i am flying in fri morning june 9th for several days. And yes, Danny's is our fav for tacos most days and his carnitas is part of a pig he does
saturdays. i think.

Tacos in Mulege... isn't there still a little taco stand right next to the bridge that is made out of the back end of a pickup truck? Audrey and I
had some fantastic shrimp tacos there. It seems like the wife does the cooking and the guy/husband runs to get beer for you, etc. It was a nice
experience. Is it still there?

We will be based out of the new motel at San Bruno, hopefully launching out of the new "marina" if the tides permit. It's all new, so we will be
improvising, in the Baja style.
Plan on being in Mulege on Saturday night (and other nights, as well). If you find yourself between barcas, let us know. We can fish up to four, but
we are in to variety so we will spend some time going deep for the yellers before we go offshore for the exotics. Going out every morning from the
10-17.

I will find you. Gotta show the newbie the Serenidad grounds anyway. Probably be around in the late afternoon of the 10th and then on to Danny's. I
havent eaten there in about 10 years but he used to have some killer rellenos that had NO batter; he just grilled whole chiles filled with cheese. I
am hoping he still does this.
That is, if I can resist a Pelican Reef burger. Naw, I'll save that for later in the trip when I'm real desperate.

well, bad news - the Pelican reef rest. is closed.
believe it or not, the sereindad has great burgers.

Oh no.......I guess real estate does beat flippin' burgers. Damn, that's a big loss to the culinary and beverage scene in Mulege, at least in a gringo
kinda way. I really liked their food.
The Serenidad burgers will have to be sampled.
