Horsepower ranch party Thursday...

I haven't been to one of these before and didn't know what to expect.....just wanted to give it a try....

This was a wonderful event and I would say to anyone that it is something not to be missed.

The ranch is just a few miles out of Ensenada towards Ojos. Beautiful place. It was set-up with some display cars/trucks/motorcycles....a large outside dining area....stage...bars.....( a great margarita came out of the "margarita machine" for me !).....large pool...

They had several tables setup with friut (pineapple, strawberries, watermellon, cantelope , carrots, cheese, and more.....with a chocolate machine where you could "dip" the fruit into.

Dinner was carnitas, BBQ beans, corn on cob, salad, rolls.....and VERY good. ( I seldon eat any food I didn't bring with me in BAJA....but this was the exception).

After the dinner they had an awards presentation....very well organized....to honor some of the "legends" of the industry. Our "heros" in off-road are NOT some Hollywood -like movie stars....but just hard working people who have been successful in doing something they like.

That's my story....anybody else go?

wish i could have Jim, what a party - And Larry Ragland was inducted, hall of fame - goes on to win ANOTHER Score big one, the 500 yesterday!!

Wondering - is it open for guests like a resort hotel during non racing times? or just for those who can do the Wide Open Baja tours Todd Clements runs?

I didn't get any information about the operations there and was wondering about that myself......this would be a great place to stay or meet other people prior to a caravan/group function....(or even a NOMADS event).....maybe someone else has some details.

It is a private ranch and solely to support Wide Open Baja Adventures. Owner Todd Clement will make exceptions but it's "who you know."

Captain Mike: Met your motorcycle crew from DP Racing at the party Thursday night. They said you were suppose to be there?

well, i was too late to get rooms so waited/hoped for a cancellation, then i would have gone over to Ensenada for the weekend. The DP guys are great! and Jesse finished 20th overall i heard.

wish in could have made it - but for the 1000 i'll be hosting an after race party and BBQ at my Mulege digs like we did at the 2004 la paz 1000 race.
