checkpoint and border.....

Just thought I would throw this out ....crossed at TJ last night(Tuesday) ...arrived at 8:30 pm and out at 9:05 pm.....not bad...

Got to the El Rosario checkpoint about 3 PM Tuesday....they were spending 5-7 minutes PER CAR on the inspection...took over half an hour to get through.....opening gas cap, laying underneath, hood open, license plates noted...never seen this level of inspection for every car before.....wonder what was the reason.....Maneadero was normal...(about a minute for me)

We went through the El Rosario checkpoint last week - no problem. They opened the back of our SUV and peeked in and waved us on. It helps to have 3 dogs in the car.

The checkpoint north of Loreto has been more thorough recently...looking under the hood, climbing in the back of the topper shell and looking around. And had me write my name on the clipboard. This for a short trip to a beach north of town. Northbound traffic only.

We were in La Paz and returned Sunday, no check southbound, quick simple check northbound.

Seems like it's kind of a random thing. At Mex 3 and Mex 5 checkpoint they sometimes have me pull over the inspection pit and sometimes not. Once in a while they just ask where I'm going and wave me on. Same vehicle all the time - this is northbound. Southbound almost always a wave through, but 1 ot of 10 times they make a inspection.

Someone once told me that if there is a high ranking officer there that the inspection is much more thorough. If not, they are more lazy about it. Makes sense to me.

Went through the Loreto check point a couple of times in the last week going north. told them I live in Mulege and they just waved me through. They did make others sign a clip board though. Just took a couple of minutes. No big deal........
