Now, should you be willing to take this mission on, you will have to be willing to "Dummie it Down"

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take this assignment. :o

I get so darn envious looking at everybody else's pictures!

The first thing you need to do is download from the Microsoft website a power toy that resizes your photos. Just run a "power toys" search on Google, and you'll find it. The resizer creates a copy of almost any picture to less than 50 kb, which I think is the max for the this forum. After that, it's easy to upload. I'm sure a lot of other nomads will jump in to tell you how, but if not, U2U me, and I'll help.

Image Resizer Tool

Yes, the Microsoft Image Resizer Power Toy does work ok, as long as you are running Windows XP. It is not compatible with other OS's.

Bruce...

You can try selecting the smallest size option available which is for handhelds; that should bring it down enough. Or, click on "Advanced", and this will allow you to manually enter the size you need:

But as with many other re-sizer probrams, you select the size in pixels not the compression in kb's. Reduce Photo from http://jdmcox.com/ lets you resize by kbs. You can have a good sized picture - not just a very small one but are able to post it by changing the compression . and it's all done right in front of you so you're sure of the size. Oh, and by the way, it's free.

Debra, I just bet this hasn't helped you at all! Another "dummie" would be me. I had to email my pic to Juanita in Cabo and she posted my picture of Estero Beach (Classic Baja Photos) for me. Still don't get it and have tried. A lot of help., but you need to know about the different kinds of programs.Grammas don't get a break too often, do they!!???? I'll keep trying ........ Suerte, Sal:?:

Well, just thanks ALOT SAL Pal!

I was able to download the "JPeg sizer thingamajig" loaded a CD with pictures and looked at the first 10 or so, couldn't get the the rest of the 164! (I think I'm hopeless!) And there you talk about emailing a pic. (did you not understand "dummie it down?!) LOL!!!!!

Think I need to go for a visit to anyone of my 3 brothers (all with degrees in Computer Science) to get some "in my face, hands on training! Problem is they all live north and I don't know that my "4Runner from Hell" knows how to go North! :?:

Debra...

Well....before going any further on how to upload photos, they have first to be under the 50kb file size limit....to achive that, you need a program to resize the photos. The Microsoft Image Re-sizer Tool is probably the simplest, because all you do after installing it is open the photo you wish to resize, right-click it, then select a smaller size than the original. It's not the program I prefer, but at least it's free and super-easy to use.

I personally use Photoshop 7.0 for my image editing needs, but it is by no means free or simple to use. That is why there have been other program suggestions for you to utilize to resize your photos easily.

If the photos you want to upload are on a CD by the way, you may have to first copy them to your Hard Drive to edit them. If your photos are on a CD-R (CD-Recordable Disk) , and not a CD-RW(Re-Writable) disk for example, then the files are locked and you cannot modify them unless they are first copied to another type of media that can be altered. If your brothers have computer science degrees, they can sure coach you and steer you in the proper direction that's for sure.

Mia (first I hope I'm not going to get more grief with this thread ignore it please everyone!) here I go.........and thank you!

I have MS XP...........so I did as you suggested and down loaded that JP re-sizer "thingamajig" ..........then I thought to get myself to a page (any page, I need to SEE THINGS) I would load a CD of pictures so I would see what I might need for my next step...........but, I got lost when I couldn't figure out how to look past the first 10 pics. (and frustrated)

I think (as I said, I'm hopeless) I need hands on......I'll just have to borrow a car (that understands North) and have one of my "computer Nerd" brothers show me, hands on, I get it then!

BTW, I love your Avatar, BEATUIFUL!............is that from your house?

Yes, my avatar picture is one I took one morning right behind our house. The sunrises here are quite spectacular. It is not enhanced or anything either; I just got a lucky shot.

Bajaden: I meant hands from Jesus :saint: (you are a bad, bad boy  ) now go say 3 Hail Mary's!

Mia: I'm going to play with it some more today (hush Bajaden) and see if I can get past my block (after I mow my lawn, do home school and repair the grout and tile in my bathroom, oh, and unplug the bathtub!.........Sheesh! a womans's work is never done! I'll get back to you, I thank you for your help. If all else fails, I'll bring the laptop down and perhaps you will find it in the kindness of your heart to show me.

I thought that Avatar had to be from your house, Great shot!

Surfer Jim: I've also tried the phone/email instructions, doesn't work for me either, I have replaced my sound card and power supply alone, my brothers were quite impressed with that feat! They tell me that most people won't even try that. Just about when I was feeling the praise and that I'm "all that" to my brothers, they tell me that the "copy and paste" "photo" "email" ("right click this, right click that") is soooooooooo simple (this from a guy that took my "Chatty Cathy" apart to see how her inards worked!, I beat him up (we were 11 & 9) So, you see what I'm up against? Computer lab at Mia's house!? (The 4 Runner from Hell knows how to get there!):lol::lol::lol:
